Very/a lot (adverbs of degree)

- Very (extremely, in a high degree) used to modify adjectives and past participles.

- A lot (very much, a great deal, considerably) Use a lot at the end of a sentence as an adverb. A lot is NOT followed by a noun.

Example: He’s very nice. : He’s very quiet. Example: I like him a lot. : I enjoy watch the news a lot.
