Hay 10 salones en la escuelaThere are 10 classrooms in the school

Hay un río en la ciudadThere is a river the city

Hay muchos parques en la ciudadThere are many parks in the city

In Spanish you say “¿hay…?”

In English you say “is there…?” “are

there…?”

¿Hay una cama en la habitación?Is there a bed in the bedroom?

¿Hay un chico en el restaurante?Is there a guy at the restaurant?

¿Hay seis alumnos en la clase?Are there six students in the class?

¿Hay muchos trenes en la estación?Are there many trains at the station?

TIP:Notice that both

statement and question have the same form in

Spanish.The difference is on

the intonation!
