A Garden for Everyone…Everyone in a Garden.

+What is a Victory Garden?

Victory Gardens were created during World War 1 and World War 2 as a way to mobilize the home front and secure the food supply.

Many Americans gardened: at school, at home, at work, in communities.

+Victory Gardens Today

There is a “new” Victory Garden movemen.t

So many people are interested in gardening.

There is a vegetable garden at the White House.

There is a vegetable garden on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

+Why Garden Today?

Food access: Not everyone lives close to a supermarket.

Food security: Not everyone has enough to eat.

Healthy foods: Gardens provide fruits & vegetables.

Exercise: Gardening can help people stay active & healthy.

Academics: Studies show that students who garden at school eat more fruits and vegetables, may have higher achievement in science, and have fewer problems at school.

Gardening is fun.

Every community needs gardens: YOU can help make that happen!

production, processing, distribution, consumption, waste management, with a strong focus on considering sustainability.
