1. Verify Delivery Platform/Transfer Environment/Gear

2. Log cards on P2 transfer log during shoot if possible.

3. Verify file structure and naming protocol before transfer. Make sure card is right protected before transfer.

4. Verify volume size and clips before reformatting cards. Always have two copies of the verified volume before reformatting the card.

5. Reformat cards.

1. Before the ShootVerify Delivery Platform - Who’s laptop? Who’s hard drive(s)? Mac or PC format on the hard drive(s)? Is the client requesting special deliverables like DVDs with timecode?

3a. Create File Structure

The file structure for each download is set up on the hard drive/laptop and is used to organize your P2 volumes. The file structure/naming must remain consistent. Never use generic names like “card 1” without qualifying it. Always preface the card number with the client name and date.

4a. Verify Clip SizeSelect the CONTENTS folder inside the P2 Volume and and choose File>Get Info. Compare it’s size with the CONTENTS folder inside the corresponding Reel Folder. They should be the same.

If a clip is grayed out it must be repaired in the camera. See “repair clip” in the camera’s manual.

5. Reformat P2 CardsPanasonic AG-HPG10 Panasonic HVX200

1. After ejecting card and turning right protect off reinsert card. When it mounts select P2 Formatter in dock.

2. Select slot number and rename Volume Label to match P2 card ID.

3. Warning! All data erased so make sure you have two verified copies.

4. When formatting is complete you should have an empty card with the correct ID.

Workflow Tips

Be organized and follow these steps.

Every shoot is different... know what P2 transfer equipment to take based on shoot logistics.

Put one person in charge of creating file structure, file transfers, volume verification, archiving and reformatting.
