At least if feels that way. We had two in one day this summer! In spite of the wet summer, we have had a really good year so far thanks to all of you. Dear Members, You will soon start to see some signifi- cant capital improvements here at the club as promised by our new owners, Accord Capital. Turns out they are really good guys and we are in good hands with Paul Mauk and crew. Save the date: October 19 th on the driving range for our last outdoor con- cert of the year. This time we will feature two bands. Steve Ward and Friends will start the show at 6pm and Tim Tyler will come on to take us home that night. Steve Ward is part of the 3 Way Street band that plays on the patio and Tim Tyler is the young exciting fellow that also plays on the patio a few times per year. It will be Chastain Style again so bring the candles and the food. The admission price is $10 per person. You may also bring your own wine for a $15 corkage fee. General Manager Bill Houck COURSE MAINTENANCE Jerry Matthews, CGCS September 16 th will be the day of our fall aeration of greens. We have had a successful year of keeping the greens healthy and growing, so they should heal quickly. Once the greens have recovered and with fall tempera- tures, we can begin to let them get drier and firmer and the green speeds will creep back up, just in time for our fall tournaments. We have been adding sand to certain bunkers to keep a proper depth on the bunker faces. We have also been plowing the sand and mixing in new sand on some of the bunkers where the sand stays too firm. We have edged them all and we are maintaining them daily to keep the right balance of not too soft and not too firm. Of course, this will always fluctuate depending on washing after rain- falls and the amount of moisture in the sand. I am frequently asked why certain holes are always cart path only, such as #2, #7, and #12. If you remember, these are holes that always previously had poor turf due to shade issues and heavy cart traffic. There are limited areas to enter and exit the path on these holes. The bene- fit of keeping traffic off these holes is really showing up now. You may notice that the turf is much denser and the ball lies are much better on these holes, and that there are no bare areas along the cart paths. It certainly shows the value of controlling cart traffic. The yellow posts are de- signed to do the same thing in distributing the traffic to non worn areas when entering and exiting the paths, so please help prevent unsightly areas along the paths by avoiding worn areas.

Congratulations to all ten thousand people that got a hole in one this year at BCC. At least if feels that way. We had two in one day this summer!

In spite of the wet summer, we have had a really good year so far thanks to all of you.

Dear Members, You will soon start to see some signifi-cant capital improvements here at the club as promised by our new owners, Accord Capital. Turns out they are really good guys and we are in good hands with Paul Mauk and crew.

Ward and Friends will start the show at 6pm and Tim Tyler

will come on to take us home that night. Steve Ward is part

September 16th will be the day of our fall aeration of greens. We have had a successful year of keeping the greens healthy and growing, so they should heal quickly. Once the greens have recovered and with fall tempera-tures, we can begin to let them get drier and firmer and the green speeds will creep back up, just in time for our fall tournaments. Of course, this will always fluctuate depending on washing after rain-falls and the amount of moisture in the sand.

I am frequently asked why certain holes are always cart path only, such as #2, #7, and #12. If you remember, these are holes that always previously had poor turf due to shade issues and heavy cart traffic. There are limited areas to enter and exit the path on these holes. The bene-fit of keeping traffic off these holes is really showing up now. You may notice that the turf is much denser and the ball lies are much better on these holes, and that there are no bare areas along the cart paths. ON THEON THE GREENSGREENS

Another hole in one!! This one by Ken Massimine. This was Ken’s first hole in one so needless to say he was very excited. Great shot Ken. He told me that he felt much better now since his daughter just had one a few days back. Thank you to all for continuing to repair ball marks and divots. You certainly can tell a difference when those are being repaired properly and it makes a much better playing surface for all to enjoy. The Men’s One Day Member Guest was a huge suc-cess so we are going to make this a staple event on the calendar each year. Thank you all for playing and congratulations to Larry Brooks and his partner Chris Noah for outlasting all the other teams and winning the overall.

Congratulations to all the juniors that participated in the Club Championship. Some rough weather shortened the event into a 27 hole Championship but they all hung in there and competed until the end. Jr. Club Champion – Zach Zwitter carded a second day 68 to win the championship! Runner Up – Chase Rappaport took second in a sudden death playoff while Al Cottone finished in Third Place.

First Flight First Place - Thomas Bird
