Sir:’Way back in July 1937 [p. 71] you pub-

lished plans for building a 13foot sailboat. Last year I came across that magazine and decided to build this design. My boat has taken me safely home when others of the same size have capsized and been dis-masted. in spite of her low freeboard , she has not dug her bow beneath any waves.

Owing to the timber shortage, I had to change the construction somewhat. 1 man-aged to obtain some Douglas fir offcuts for the bottom, but for the deck and sides I used '4in. plywood. Th e stem is of satin walnut that was washed up on the beach.
