‘n Briefie van die bemarkingskomitee af! Op 9 November het Amoré Bekker ‘n deeltjie van haar lewensverhaal by Bateleur kom deel. Ongeveer 140 Laevelders het aandagtig geluister na Amoré se verhaal van die verlies van haar geliefde en hoe hierdie trauma tog in perfekte orde was in haar lewe. Dit was ‘n aangrypende en inspirerende praatjie wat die gehoor met trane in hulle oë gelaat het. Die tweede hoogtepunt was die bekendstelling van Tjailaresepte2 - ‘n Reisgids. Daar is tougestaan vir getekende boeke wat vinnig opgeraap is! Verversings is bedien op die stoep en daar is gekuier en gesels onder die bome tot wel na middagete. Baie dankie aan almal wat hard gewerk het om hierdie oggend aan te bied, asook almal wat ‘n donasie gemaak het op die dag! Alle opbrengste van die oggend was ten bate van Huis Herfsakker se Dakprojek en meer as R6,000 is aan hulle oorhandig! Hopelik maak ons gou weer so!

A Note from the Marketing Committee! On the 9th of November Amoré Bekker visited Bateleur and shared a part of her life story with us! It was truly inspirational and many of the guests had tears in their eyes leaving the hall! She also introduced her new recipe book – Tjaila Resepte 2 – ‘n Reisgids, which was quickly sold out! Thank you to everybody who worked hard to make the day a huge success! All the funds from the day was donated to Huis Herfsakkers’ Roof project and more than R6,000 was handed to them. Hopefully we can do it again next year!

WHAT IS A GRANDMOTHER A grandmother is a women who have no children of her own, and therefore she loves the boys and girls of other people. Grandmothers have nothing to do, they have only got to be there. If they take us for a walk they go slowly past the beautiful leaves, flowers and caterpillars. They never say “come along quickly” or “hurry up for goodness sake.” They are usually fat, but not too fat to tie up our shoe-strings. They wear spectacles and sometimes they can take out their teeth. They can answer every question, for instance, why dogs hate cats and why God is not married. When they read to us they do not mind if it is the same story. Everyone should try to have a grandmother especially those who have no television. GRANDMOTHERS ARE THE ONLY GROWN-UPS WHO ALWAYS HAVE TIME ...... B y a little boy of eight.

Letter from Jean Slingerland A big thank you letter to all my old friends, as well as my new Bateleur friends, who made my 5 week stay in bed pass by much quicker, by popping in for a chat, bringing food, & "‘lekker goed," flowers, books to read, as well as doing all my shopping for me, as well as driving me to the Doctors , sms, etc. etc. ...... What a caring lot of people live here! Wonderful how they seem to help when needed. Bless you all. Hopefully I only have 3 more weeks in this brace, and that my back would have healed, when I see the Doctor on the 5th of December. Many people will walk in & out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart.
