Pennsylvanians Take Action to Support Sunday Hunting
National Shooting Sports Foundation
NEWTOWN, Conn --(Ammoland.com)- Pennsylvania stripped you of
your rights more than a century ago.
It’s time to get them back! support sunday hunting
WWW.SUNDAYHUNTING.ORG
You work all week to support your family. Come Sunday, you can fish,
play golf or sit back and cheer for your favorite team.
But your government, after more than 130 years, still won’t let you hunt.
Families spending quality time together in the field is a traditional
American activity.
This pastime, however, is restricted in Pennsylvania as part of a last
remaining blue law. That’s just not right.
Support HB 1760 and pass Sunday hunting in Pennsylvania. It’s not the
job of the government to tell you how to spend your Sunday.
TAKE ACTION NOW:
Contact Game and Fisheries members and urge them to support HB
1760, which would repeal the old blue law still on the books that bans
Sunday hunting.

Bass Pro Shops Late Season Buck Tips
Bass Pro Shops
Springfield, Missouri --(Ammoland.com)- Pressured, rut-weary
bucks like to stage and browse in cover before hitting a field at dusk or
after dark.
On cold afternoons, glass for bucks feeding or loafing on sunny slopes
that face south or southwest.
On windy and frigid days, hunt deer down in draws or creek bottoms.
If a doe comes flitting by your stand kind of antsy and shaking her tail,
then get ready.

She might be coming into late heat and a buck might be coming along

When weary and skittish bucks don’t move a lot, sometimes it pays to go
to them. If your stands aren’t producing, still hunt, especially if there’s
snow on the ground.
Follow fresh tracks or hunt along a hillside and glass down into draws
and bottoms. Any of these tactics could lead to success.

House Passes Veterans SecondAmendment Protection ActOCT 13, 2011 12:51P.M.
House Passes Veterans Second Amendment Protection Act
Time to start Lobbying Your Senators Hard!
FirearmsCoalition.org
Manassas, VA --(Ammoland.com)- This important legislation has been
languishing in both houses of Congress for the past several years in spite
of bi-partisan efforts to get it moving.
The Senate version of the bill, sponsored by Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC),
was passed out of the Judiciary Committee in 2009 and placed on the
Senate Calendar under General Orders where it remained awaiting
action from self-avowed Second Amendment supporter, Senate Majority
Leader Harry Reid (D-NV).
Reid allowed the bill to die with the close of the 111th Congress and it was
not reintroduced in the Senate in the 112th Congress.
Now that a version of the legislation has passed out of the House, the
pressure needs to be on for Senators to sign off on it and send it to the
President.
Representative Denny Rehberg (R-MT) successfully amended the
language from his bill, H.R.1898, to a broader veterans benefits bill,
H.R.2349, which then passed the House on Tuesday, October 11.
The broader bill now goes to the Senate for consideration where
shenanigans could strip out or seriously undermine the impact of the
Rehberg language.
Contact your Senator – especially Democrats who have gotten elected
by claiming to support the Second Amendment - and urge them to vote
for passage of H.R.2349 with the Veterans’ Second Amendment
Protection language intact.
The Veterans’ Second Amendment Protection Act was introduced in
response to a Veterans Administration policy of submitting names of
veterans to the FBI for inclusion in the NICS firearms purchaser
background check database. The VA has been submitting the names of
veterans who have a fiduciary appointed to manage their financial affairs
as “mental defectives” who are then permanently prohibited from
possessing or having access to firearms and/or ammunition. It is not
uncommon for a veteran with minor memory issues or problems such as
compulsive buying or gambling to have themselves declared mentally
incompetent to manage their own affairs and turn over control of their
financial affairs to a spouse or relative to manage for them. Even if such
an arrangement and diagnoses is temporary – such as in the case of a
severely wounded veteran undergoing long-term rehabilitation or
comatose patients – once the name is submitted to NICS, it is very
difficult for them to ever regain right to arms.
The Veterans’ Second Amendment Protection Act specifies that only
veterans who have been adjudicated to be a danger to themselves or
others are to be submitted for inclusion in the NICS database. This
simple adjustment could restore firearms rights to as many as 100,000
veterans who have had their names unreasonably submitted to NICS.
This important reform is long overdue and this is the closest we’ve ever
come to getting it signed into law.
Your Immediate Action is Required!

Contact both of your senators AND Senate Majority Leader Reid.
Tell them that you want H.R.2349 passed with the Veterans’ Second
Amendment Protection Act language retained intact. Do it Today and
then do it again every few days until the bill is passed and signed by the
President.
Also, please forward this Alert to every veteran and gun owner you know
and re-post it on every veteran or firearms related forum, blog, and
website you can find.
Our veterans deserve your support on this and the support of your
senators.

House Committee To Vote On Concealed Carry Weapon
Reciprocity Soon
Gun Owners of America
Washington, DC --(Ammoland.com)- The House Judiciary Committee
will soon be voting on legislation that will guarantee the right of citizens
to carry firearms out-of-state.
And the vote could come as early as today or tomorrow!
GOA has alerted you to H.R. 822 — introduced by Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-
FL) – and explained the weaknesses in his bill. Many of you have taken
action on our alerts and informed your Representative that there is a
better approach.
That approach has been championed by Rep. Paul Broun of Georgia, the
author of H.R. 2900 — or the Secure Access to Firearms Enhancement
(SAFE) Act.
The Broun bill has several advantages:
• It would allow residents of California, New Jersey and other “may
issue” states to get out-of-state carry permits (say, from Florida or
Utah) and carry in their home states — an benefit they would not

enjoy under the Stearns’ bill;
• Broun also protects the right of gun owners in non-permit states
like Vermont and allows them to carry out-of-state without a
permit; and
• Finally, the Broun bill does not rely on an expansive, erroneous
interpretation of the Commerce Clause. Passing gun legislation
that uses the Commerce Clause for authority could undercut efforts
at promoting Firearms Freedom Act legislation throughout the
country which specifically declares the Commerce Clause has no
authority over the production of intrastate guns.
We need to continue putting heat on Congress, now that this reciprocity
legislation is beginning to move. You’ve already sent your emails, but
now it’s time to change things up and send postcards. If the House
committee passes the Stearns bill, then it will probably come to the floor
of the House some time next month.
So there is plenty of time to inundate Representatives’ offices with
postcards and mail — urging them to support H.R. 2900 — or to amend
the Stearns bill so that it contains the gun owners’ protections in the
Broun bill.
So, GOA members, please be looking for the latest mailing from GOA
headquarters which should begin arriving this week. And please take the
enclosed postcard and send it to your Representative. Then, take the
extra two postcards and have pro-gun family members and friends send
them, as well. That will multiply your efforts by 200%.
Also, did you see the Violence Policy Center’s “research” which
supposedly debunks concealed carry? Click here to see GOA’s most
recent Fact Sheet, which blasts the VPC faux report and sets the record
straight.

California Governor Ignores Sportsmen and Gun Owners,
Signs Gun Registration Bill
U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance
Columbus, OH --(Ammoland.com)- Despite an outpouring of phone
calls from sportsmen, Governor Jerry Brown signed into law a new gun
registry bill that will require sportsmen to register all of their firearm
purchases and transfers with the state.
The bill, Assembly Bill 809, applies the state’s current handgun
registration requirements to all firearms, including rifles and shotguns
commonly used by sportsmen for hunting and recreational shooting.
Sportsmen will now have to provide the state a laundry list of personal
information anytime they buy or transfer a firearm. The information
includes their name, address, place of birth, telephone number, and
occupation as well as a detailed description of the handgun and the gun’s
serial number.
The Governor’s official signing message accompanying his signature on
the bill states that “[s]ince the state already retains handgun purchaser
information, I see no reason why the state should not also retain
information pertaining to the sales of long guns.”
“Governor Brown’s reasoning for signing the bill is absurd,”
said Jeremy Rine, U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance associate
director of state services.
“He is essentially telling sportsmen that since the state has
already taken away some of your gun rights it is ok to take
away more. Sportsmen should contact the Governor and tell
them how disappointed they are that he signed this
unnecessary bill. They certainly should also remember how
their elected officials voted on this bill when they go to the

Kentucky Approves SandhillCrane Season Over Anti-Hunting ObjectionsOCT 13, 2011 12:33P.M.
Kentucky Committee Approves Sandhill Crane Season Over
Anti-Hunting Objections
Proposed Season Clears Major Hurdle.
U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance
Columbus, OH --(Ammoland.com)- On Tuesday, an eight member
Administrative Regulation Review Subcommittee approved Kentucky’s
proposed sandhill crane hunting regulations. This Subcommittee was
one of the final hurdles to the ultimate approval of a season.
The proposed hunting season has been under attack from anti-hunting
organizations since the Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources first
proposed a limited sandhill crane hunting season earlier this year.
Sandhill crane populations have grown substantially over recent years
and are now at levels that allow for hunting to be used as part of their
management plan in the state. The Department of Fish and Wildlife
Resources has worked with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to take a
conservative approach to opening the new season.
The proposal will now go before the Interim Joint Committee on Natural
Resources and Environment where it will be heard on November 3rd.
This Committee is the final step in the approval process.
“This was the last major step that needed to be taken and the
outpouring of support from sportsmen was heard loud and
clear in the Capitol,” said Evan Heusinkveld, U.S.
Sportsmen’s Alliance director of state services. Kentucky
sportsmen should be pleased that their elected officials have
ignored the anti-hunting lobby’s rhetoric and relied on sound
science and the management professionals in the Department
of Fish and Wildlife Resources.”
Take Action! Sportsmen should call their legislators to thank them for
their support of hunting and professional wildlife management. To find
your legislator’s contact information, use the USSA Legislative Action
Center at www.ussportsmen.org/lac.

The State Of The Bobwhite Is …OCT 13, 2011 12:25P.M.
The State Of The Bobwhite Is …
By Don McKenzie, NBCI Director
“What are you prepared to do?” – The dying Sean Connery, to Kevin
Costner, in The Untouchables.
The state of the bobwhite is:
• declining;
• in every single state across its range;
• over short, medium and long-term periods;
• without exception.

National Bobwhite Conservation Initiative
Knoxville, TN --(Ammoland.com)- The NBCI released last week the
State of the Bobwhite report, consolidating for the first time up-to-date
status and conservation information across all 25 states in the core
bobwhite range (see announcement and report on
www.bringbackbobwhites.org ).
This report is a spin-off tribute to the national “State of the Birds” report
issued by the North American Bird Conservation Initiative (www.nabci-
us.org).
The State of the Bobwhite report contains 3 major parts:
1. Status and conservation reports, nationally and from all 25 NBCI
states;
2. Selected results from a bobwhite conservation self-assessment by
all 25 NBCI states; and
3. The first NBCI “Call to Action,” with priorities for progress over the
next year.
NBCI staff debated how much gloomy news to provide in the report,
concerned that the full, unvarnished truth might be overwhelming and
turn people away. We decided to pull no punches; the severity and
urgency could not otherwise be conveyed. Besides, anything less
wouldn’t be credible to all those who see the problem with their own eyes
in their states.
There are bright spots. Our solid scientific foundation on bobwhite
biology, ecology and management is an essential requisite. From that
launching pad, bobwhite conservationists have finally pulled our act
together across 25 states, with vision, strategy, internal organization and
infrastructure. The number of states seriously gearing up to tackle the
quail problem is steadily growing.
An expanding array of success stories in several states demonstrates that
well-managed land still can produce wild quail in abundance. Finally, we
have a priceless asset – passion. Bobwhites evoke the kind of lifelong
passion that can make grown men choke up, reminiscing about their
fondest quail hunting memories. On this solid foundation of assets
stands the capability to make a difference.
Call To Action
Now that the NBCI has starkly laid out the bleak range-wide situation for
all to see, what are we prepared to do? To kick-start progress, the NBCI
Management Board issued its first “Call to Action” in the State of the
Bobwhite report, identifying timely quail conservation priorities at
national, state and local levels. The Call to Action is not sound-bite
rhetoric; it is a serious leadership role and tactical step in a long-term
strategy. Key roles and opportunities are identified for all who care
enough to get involved right away.
The NBCI Management Board calls upon:
• USDA to become a more positive, and less detrimental, force for
native grassland conservation;
• States to prioritize, step down and publicize the NBCI 2.0;
• Individuals to:
• join and get active with a grassland habitat organization;
• speak up in support of your state’s quail initiative; and
• ask Congress to support agricultural conservation for the public’s
wildlife.
As Director of the 9-year-old NBCI, I take the bleak status of bobwhites
personally, even though it’s a half-century-old problem.
The State of the Bobwhite report makes clear this is gut-
check time for everyone who cares … while there is time.
About:
The National Bobwhite Conservation Initiative (NBCI) is the unified
strategic effort of 25 state fish and wildlife agencies and various
conservation organizations — all under the umbrella of the National
Bobwhite Technical Committee — to restore wild populations of
bobwhite quail in this country to levels comparable to 1980. Visit:

United States Army Marksmanship Unit
FORT BENNING, Ga. --(Ammoland.com)- Hosting a successful
world-class event requires the strength of an entire community, and the
joint-effort between Fort Benning and the Chattahoochee Valley left a
lasting impression on hundreds of people from around the world.
The U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit hosted the first-ever
International Paralympic Committee Shooting World Cup
held in the Western Hemisphere Oct. 4-9 here and while
several deserving athletes left with medals around their neck,
the teamwork between the military and civilian community
was a true victory in itself.
“This event was a great opportunity to show the visitors from
around the world what right looks like – what a winning
combination of partnership between a military installation
and the community looks like,” said Maj. Gen. Robert Brown,
commander, Maneuver Center of Excellence.
“The Chattahoochee Valley has a heart for the military, more
so than any other place I have been and I am not just saying
that. It’s evident by the outstanding community support we
have from so many organizations. The relationships are
mutual too, as our Soldiers get great enjoyment in rolling up
their sleeves and volunteering in the community through
programs like Partners in Education and supporting local
organizations through the Combined Federal Campaign. It is
a win-win for the military and our community outside the
gate.”
A number of organizations reached out to the USAMU, lending their
services for the week. Students from Harris County High School received
permission to volunteer their time while navigating around their test
week. Gameday for Heroes and Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 29th Infantry
Regiment teamed together all week and The American Red Cross had
volunteers on the grounds throughout the event.
“We feel that helping our military is a priority,” said Michelle
Walton, Fort Benning manager for the Red Cross. “Helping
out with events such as this are our ‘feel good’ moments.”
Volunteers served food to the athletes, assisted them in traveling from
their hotels to the range, helped those in wheelchairs get around the
range, and even helped them during their matches by handling their
guns while they adjusted their shooting positions or providing a quick
rubdown in between rounds.
“By volunteering at this event my daughters, 10 and 14, have
been able to do things that many people have not,” said Jana
Tarleton, director of Gameday for Heroes. “Not only have
they been able to meet others from around the world, they
have been able to meet individuals that have a disability do
the same things that able bodied individuals can do and
more.
“I have met friends that I know will be friends for life. I don’t
think people understand everything that goes on at Fort
Benning-it’s not just a military base with Soldiers,
helicopters, tanks and guns-it is our community with events
that have visitors from all over the world and experiences that
no other community has to offer.”
By hosting two World Cups alone in 2011, more than a
thousand people from the international community have
stayed in local hotels, ate their meals at local restaurants, and
purchased items from merchants to take back to their
countries, pumping dollars into the local economy, Tarleton
said. It leaves a positive impact on everyone.
“Having world-class events like the IPC Paralympic World
Cup is one of many examples of the high-caliber of activities
that happen at Fort Benning, in addition to the world-class
training and leader development we do 365 days a year,” said
Brown. “There is so much happening at Fort Benning that it
is hard to not be a little excited and inspired by the spirit of
enthusiasm you see. Having all of these people from around
the world come to Fort Benning is a great way to showcase
this installation and the impact it makes on the Army and the
world.”

Fire Eric HolderOCT 13, 2011 09:40A.M.
Fire Eric Holder
National Association for Gun Rights
Colorado -–(Ammoland.com)- I won’t dance around on this one.
America needs to Fire Attorney General Eric Holder and Investigate the
ATF!
Smuggled weapons. Drug cartels. Murdered American border patrol
agents. Cover-ups. Perjury.
One of these alone should be enough to get those responsible fired. Put
together, and there’s no other choice:
We must fire Attorney General Eric Holder and Investigate the ATF!
You’ve read about the scandal engulfing the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco,
Firearms and Explosive (BATFE) and your National Association for Gun
Rights has been on the case every step of the way, calling on Congress to
investigate and get to the bottom of the ATF’s gun-smuggling scheme,
“Fast & Furious.”
But just this week it was revealed that President Obama’s handpicked
Attorney General Eric Holder was briefed on “Fast & Furious” as early as
the Summer of 2010 …
… even though he swore under oath before Congress that he found out
about the scandal only a few weeks ago.
That’s right. Obama’s Attorney General – Eric Holder – lied under oath
before a Congressional committee, so he could continue to hide the truth
about the ATF’s “Fast & Furious” scandal.
This is the very scandal that found the ATF using taxpayer funds to walk
firearms across the border into the hands of Mexican narco-terrorists.
But dig even deeper, and gun activists will find out this scheme was
concocted as a public relations blitz by the Obama Administration to
advance their anti-gun agenda with the UN “Small Arms Treaty,” a
renewed so-called “Assault Weapons” ban and a host of dangerous gun
controls.
The “Fast & Furious” program itself was just another manufactured
crisis to try to scare Americans into banning firearms.
But now, because of a sustained campaign of grassroots pressure on
Congress spearheaded by NAGR, Eric Holder and EVEN the ATF might
be on the ropes.
Gun owners like you and me MUST hold Eric Holder and the ATF
accountable.
Please demand Congressional leadership appoint a special prosecutor to
investigate Eric Holder and the ATF, and to hold them accountable for
their acts against the Constitution.
For months, NAGR has asked you to contact your member of Congress to
demand accountability for “Fast & Furious.” Hundreds of thousands of
NAGR members and supporters have made their voices heard on Capitol
Hill.
Attorney General Holder has tried to create a scapegoat by “reassigning”
the Acting Director of the ATF, Kenneth Melson …
… but that’s not good enough.
Gun owners and ALL Americans need to know what role Eric Holder
played in “Fast & Furious.”
To keep the heat on Congress and Fire Eric Holder and Investigate the
ATF, demanding a special prosecutor investigate Eric Holder and the
ATF — at once.
Eric Holder has a long and storied history of supporting radical, anti-
Second Amendment gun control legislation and legal positions.
He has made statements over the years indicating that:
• Gun ownership is a “collective right” not an individual one;
• The Second Amendment is not a barrier to gun confiscation;

• There should be federal licensing requirements, rationing of
handgun sales to one per month, a national gun registration, the
federal government should have the power to shut down gun shows
… and the list goes on and on.
Eric Holder is an enemy to every Second Amendment advocate in this
country and he is covering up a scandal that is engulfing the ATF — the
most anti-gun federal agency.
Gun owners — and voters like you and me – must know: Did Eric
Holder and the Obama administration knowingly allow the ATF to
smuggle weapons to drug cartels in an attempt to deceive the American
people to support gun control?
And did Eric Holder lie under oath to cover up this program? How many
times over the last decade have you and I heard: “What did he know and
when did he know it?” This is the question that gun activists are
demanding of our government.
It’s time for the federal government to stop placing our gun rights in
their experimental test tube they use to run left-wing social experiments.
How deep does this scandal go? How long does it last? Holder isn’t
enough — the corruption is institutional at ATF.
And the more we dig, the more I’ve dealt with the ATF, the more it has
become apparent that it’s time for a full-fledged investigation into the
corrupt and anti-constitution bureaucracy of the ATF.
I need your help right now. The truth is there’s no time to waste. You and
I have to be prepared for this fight to move FAST.
• Do you believe the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the
Second Amendment are the supreme law of the land?
• Do you believe the ATF’s secret scheme to subvert your
Constitutional right to keep and bear arms must be opposed?
• Do you believe that Attorney General Eric Holder should be held
accountable for lying under oath to cover up the “Fast & Furious”
scandal?
The National Association for Gun Rights will continue contacting Second
Amendment supporters to turn up the heat on Attorney General Eric
Holder and the out-of-control ATF.
Not only that, but I’ve instructed my staff to prepare a massive program
to turn up the heat on Congress and demand that they direct a special
prospector to fully investigate Eric Holder and the ATF.
Direct mail. Phones. E-mail. Blogs. Guest editorials. Press conferences.
Hard-hitting internet, newspaper, radio and even TV ads if funding
permits. The whole nine yards.
Of course, a program of this scale is only possible if the National
Association for Gun Rights can raise all the funds necessary to
implement this battle plan.
But that’s not easy, and we may not have much time. The truth is, we just
don’t know how deep this scandal goes.
Make no mistake, a lot more is at stake than Eric Holder committing
perjury. We just don’t know how far up the chain of command this goes.
• Did President Obama know that the ATF was using taxpayer funds
to funnel American firearms to narco-terrorists in Mexico?
• Did Holder and Obama know that those same firearms were used
to kill U.S. law-enforcement officer Brian Terry?
• Was this program run simply to build the case for more gun
restrictions in America?
These are the VERY questions that we gun owners need to know. And
that is why I need you to demand the Firing Eric Holder and Investigate
the ATF RIGHT NOW.
Thank you in advance for your time and personal devotion to defending
our Second Amendment rights.
For Freedom,
Dudley Brown
Executive Director
P.S. Attorney General Eric Holder lied under oath before a
Congressional committee to cover up the ATF “Fast &
Furious” scandal that sent smuggled weapons to Mexican
narco-terrorists.
