Please remember to let all of yourfamily know what apartment numberyou live in so that you receive all ofyour mail. The office receivesanywhere from between 15 to 25extra pieces of mail per day forresidents who live here, but theapartment number is not included. Itis very time consuming to sortthrough it all, find the addressnumbers and then make sure eachresident receives it in a timelymanner. Thank you!

Please use regular trash bags tobag kitty litter instead of grocerystore bags (or at the very least, double bag them). If these bags get ahole in them, it makes for a hugemess for the maintenance team toclean up.

If you dispose of boxes, pleasebreak them down and place them inthe outdoor trash bin, not the indoortrash bin.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Remember, now that the snow ishere, we use the west end of theparking lots to pile snow. Please donot park at the west end.

Talk About It

Many HandsMake

Light WorkFrom washing

dishes to milkingcows, many peoplehave childhoodmemories of helpingout with chores.Roll up your sleevesand reminisceabout householdresponsibilities fromyour youth.

What were someeveryday chores youdid while growingup? What was yourleast favorite task?Did you have somethat you lookedforward to doing?

Did you live on afarm or other ruralarea? What kinds ofoutdoor chores hadto be done? Did youever tend livestock, weed or water agarden, or helpharvest crops?

Were there anyseasonal chores, likecanning fruits orvegetables orchopping firewood?

Did you havesiblings to shareresponsibilities?Who did what tasks?

Coloring Isn’t Just for KidsGrownups are getting out the

crayons and going back to anostalgic childhood pastime—coloring. Featuring intricate drawingsthat are more challenging thanchildren’s versions, adult coloringbooks have become publishingbest-sellers. Creators say the activitytakes people back to a more carefreetime, allows the mind to unwind andprovides a creative outlet. Expertsnote that coloring uses two parts ofthe brain: The cerebral cortex isactivated since vision andcoordination are needed, while theamygdala is relaxed, producing ade-stressing effect.

Organizing Important PapersGetting organized is a popular New

Year’s resolution, but paring downpaperwork is often a challenge due tothe fear of throwing out a documentthat may be needed later. Here aresome guidelines to consider whenclearing the paper clutter.

Keep for one year or less. Deposit,ATM, and debit and credit cardreceipts can be shredded afterverifying them against monthlystatements. Bank and credit cardstatements can be discarded after ayear. (If you need a past one fordocumentation, the financialinstitution typically can provide acopy.) You can shred monthly andquarterly statements from investmentaccounts, but hold on to annualstatements until you sell theinvestments. Keep health, auto andproperty insurance cards and policydocuments until you receivenew ones.

Keep for seven years. Tax returns—both federal and state, along with anysupporting documentation—should beretained for seven years.

Keep permanently. Somedocuments should never be purged. These include birth and deathcertificates; marriage licenses anddivorce decrees; military dischargepapers; Social Security cards; wills, trusts or other estate plans; lifeinsurance policies; and benefit plansfrom former employers. If you keepdocuments and other items in a safedeposit box, always maintain a currentinventory list for it.

We took a trip to the beautiful Frauenthal Theatre inMuskegon to see the Mona Shores Singing ChristmasTree. What a show!

Jim and Shirley helped decoratethe Christmas trees in our lobby andin our dining room. Great job, guys!
