ISSUE NUMBER CD 2015-03

ISSUE Response Grid and Determinant allocation changes

BACKGROUND

The Executive has approved a Response Grid Quality Advisory Committee proposal to rationalise the number of current response priorities and in addition reallocate a range of determinants.

• Determinants with re-allocated Response Priorities A range of determinants with a 10 priority have been reviewed and relocated to a 2 Immediate. The types of Incidents include assaults, headaches, heat or cold exposure and lacerations, where the patient has been confirmed as alert. These changes are to ensure that patients receive an appropriate response to their reported condition; with a life threatening situation allocated a lights and sirens response. Additionally to improve paramedic and community safety by reducing the number of "lights and sirens" responses.

• 20 priorities: The 20 range of response priorities will be retired with all determinants re-allocated to the equivalent 2B priority. This will reduce the number of alternative timeframes within the Response Grid and strengthen the patient's safety given the previous 90 minute timeframe potential.

BACKGROUND

2C becomes a 2B 2CH becomes a 2BH

BACKGROUND

2CE becomes a 2BE 2CHE becomes a 2BHE

BACKGROUND

• Secondary Triage: The 2AH and 2AHE priorities will also be retired with those determinants re-allocated to the 2B equivalents. This consolidates all secondary triage determinants in the Response Grid to 2 priorities:

BACKGROUND

2AH becomes a 2BH 2AHE becomes a 2BHE REFERENCE SOP 2013-014 Dispatch - Emergency Response Standards

AIM To advise all Control Centre staff of alterations to the Response Grid and allocation of MPDS determinants.
