amazon machine learning vs google prediction api
TRANSCRIPT
Amazon Machine Learning
VS
Google Prediction API
Amazon wins first point
Because it is older than Google’s prediction api and more refined in terms of data modeling and results, people are more inclined to use Amazon’s ML at first place.
Amazon’s ML console is much richer than Google’s Prediction Tool.
Training the machine
Amazon is straight forward facility to train your data and move ahead No programming skill is required to get on with Amazon ML.
On the other hand Google has API explorer for the same purpose. This is just a testing tool which demonstrates the Api access and output. Here, there is no single place like Amazon’s ML tool which has everything at one place. Google ML heavily relies on programming for accessing APIs.
Creating data model
Once your file is at Amazon’s S3 storage bucket, you are just a click away from creating your models
On the other hand Google provide cloud storage to upload training data. To create model from this, you have to either write your own program or use Api explorer tool.
Training the machine
Amazon takes more time than Google for training it’s machine.
I have tested it with 1000 records in a file and Google was able to train itself in 30 seconds while Amazon took around one minute. However this is one time wait and should not affect you much in longer run.
Pricing
Google prediction api is free for six months for limited amount of resources.
Amazon has fix pricing based on your usage where you will have to be careful while training and predicting from it
Language support
Amazon ML:
Android, Browser, iOS, Java, .NET, NodeJS, PHP, Python, Ruby, Go, C++(Dev Preview).
Google Prediction:
Android, Browser, iOS, Java, .NET, NodeJS, PHP, Ruby, Go.
Final Words
If you are at the start of an important project or struggling with tight deadline, I would recommend you to go with tried and tested Amazon ML. However I see a bright future for Google ML solutions as it is tightly integrated with other Google solutions and will be pricing competitive as compared to Amazon.
