Most non-live genre of TV channels typically play about eight hours of unique content per day. Then, why spend excessively on a 24x7 satellite feed?

Advancements in cloud technologies have caused tectonic shifts in the way media content is stored, distributed, consumed, shared, and monitored.

Amagi has been at the forefront of this technology revolution in the playout services industry. We offer a cloud-based edge playout platform that is disruptive, unique, and future-ready. Be it launching new channel feeds to niche geographies or broadcasting non-live genre of content through a satellite-based broadcast infrastructure with inherent concerns on RoI, Amagi’s edge playout platform offers a realistic and technologically advanced alternative to traditional TV broadcasting.

CLOUDPORT, Amagi’s cloud-based edge playout platform is designed to seamlessly integrate with existing systems and workflows of TV Networks to power a playout that is as robust and secure as traditional satellite / fibre models, but more flexible and cost-effective.

A comprehensive playlist based on ingested content is created through CLOUDPORT’s sophisticated, web-based playout management suite. The relevant content is then pushed on to the edge servers installed at various headends, across multiple geographic regions through a secure cloud network. The edge servers then play feature-rich graphics, audio and video based on the playlist, resulting in a 24x7 channel playout. The playout management suite also enables media management, playlist controls and monitoring from anywhere across the world.

The CLOUDPORT platform is not capital intensive unlike the satellite/fibre models of broadcasting. The entire playout infrastructure can be set up at nearly half the costs of traditional TV broadcast, and new channel feeds can be launched in less than two weeks.

Amagi’s CLOUDPORT Edge Playout platform provides a mutually exclusive chain for managing disaster recovery playout and is hence a highly robust and cost-effective disaster recovery option.

The platform seamlessly integrates with existing broadcast workflows to absorb all the necessary elements needed for channel playout. Further, the cloud infrastructure serves as a suitable content archive for channel continuity in the near to mid-term.

Amagi designs disaster recovery architecture with varied topologies for playouts– at a disaster recovery uplink site, or at headends of important affiliates, or at channel distribution hubs, or a mix of each. A business Internet connection is all that is needed by the broadcaster at each site hosting the disaster recovery playout servers from Amagi.

Amagi also offers a comprehensive support model covering all aspects from conception to commercialization. The support model is designed to simplify initial deployment for channel playout and to offer continued support foron-going operations management.
