OUR DESTINATIONS

Zagreb’s medieval town core, the hilltop district of Gradec and neighbouring Kaptol district, make up the historic Upper Town – the oldest surviving part of Zagreb today. Its web of cobblestoned streets host among the highest number of the city’s attractions in a single area, including famous landmark the Zagreb Cathedral.

The history of Opatija is closely connected to St Jacob’s Church and its property, originally an abbey, for which the city of Opatija is named (“opatija” means “abbey” in Croatian). The maiden with the Seagull sculpture is Opatija’s most recognised symbol.

An original Croatian city over 950 years-old, it was founded by Croats in 1066 on the sheltered Šibenik canal. Home to two UNESCO World Heritage-listed sites: architectural wonder St James Cathedral, built 1431 – 1536 and venetian period St Nicholas fortress, built 1540 – 1547.
