Welcome to Amadeus Value Pricer, the Amadeus low fare search engine. This user guide gives you an overview of the product and the Amadeus Value Pricer entries.

Chapter 1

Introduction to Amadeus Value Pricer

What is Amadeus Value Pricer?

Amadeus Value Pricer is a low fare search engine which provides you with up to 20 low fare itinerary recommendations. You can use Amadeus Value Pricer entries with or without an active PNR. The system returns alternative fare recommendations from which you can choose to either create a new booking or rebook an existing one. Amadeus Value Pricer processes multi passenger types, and guarantees the reservation at time of booking.

Amadeus Service Fee Manager is fully integrated with Amadeus Value Pricer. The Amadeus Value Pricer fare recommendations include the ticketing fees.

Amadeus Value Pricer can be used by a variety of travel agencies, such as corporate, leisure, and multi-national agencies; its distribution is chargeable.

Amadeus Value Pricer supports domestic and international sectors, interline routings, one way, round trip, circle trip, and open jaw journeys. When you make a search request, you can specify the following availability options to customize your search:

• Time

• Airline

• Connecting point

• Flight category

• Cabin

Amadeus Value Pricer supports published fares, ATPCO private fares, negotiated fares, and interline pricing. As a general rule, all Amadeus Best Pricer and pricing restrictions apply to Amadeus Value Pricer, along with other restrictions that apply only to Amadeus Value Pricer.

Your request can contain the following fare options:

• Type of fare, such as Unifares

• Up to six different passenger types, which are processed simultaneously

• Taxes and surcharges

• Override selling/ticketing city

• Expanded parameters

• Currency conversion

• Price to beat

There are four basic elements needed to perform an Amadeus Value Pricer entry:

• Number of passengers

• Origin

• Destination

• Date

You can enter these elements manually, or, if a PNR is present, the system automatically retrieves them from the PNR.

However, you only need to specify the destination, because the system searches by default for low fares for one adult passenger on flights departing today from the city associated to your office profile. For example, if you enter:

FXCPAR

and your office is located in London, by default, the system searches for low fares for one adult passenger from London to Paris using today’s date and time.

How Does the System Process the Request?

Amadeus Value Pricer is a low-fare search engine that can find available flights that meet your pricing requirements in a single entry. To do this, Amadeus Value Pricer first checks thousands of fares and a wide range of flights, and then uses various selection parameters to display the final recommendations.

Amadeus Value Pricer's main goal is to provide the least expensive among the most convenient itinerary proposals. Because of this, the price is the most important search criteria. If the system finds many itineraries at the same price, the system then proposes the most convenient journey solutions, giving preference to:

• Non-stop or direct flights, rather than connecting flights

• Flights with the least elapsed flying time

• Online connections

Amadeus Value Pricer also tries to offer you a choice among the list of recommendations by performing redundancy checks, in particular on the number of times the same airline can appear.

How Can I Optimize the Amadeus Value Pricer Recommendations?

You can improve the search result by narrowing down the search according to the preferences of the traveler. For example:

• Specify the time (time of departure, time of arrival, time windows), airline, connecting points, and even airport preferences.

• Include all of the options in the initial entry. Avoid first requesting a display with no options, then narrowing down the display by adding options.

If the search is very broad, it is more difficult for the system to find the best solution because of the large number of possible price and flight combinations. Additionally, the recommendations will not be optimized for your customer's travel requirements, such as the need to travel on certain airlines for Frequent Flyer miles.

What Is Included in the Recommendation Display?

A recommendation display contains up to 20 recommendations of fares and itineraries proposed by the system.

The fare information displayed includes the following:

• Total fare information

• Passenger type

• Penalty and warning messages (if applicable)

• Electronic ticket and paper ticket information (if applicable)

• Last ticketing date information (if applicable)

The itinerary information displayed includes the following:

• Airline

• Flight number

• Booking class

• Departure date

• Departure and arrival airports and terminals

• Connecting cities

• Departure and arrival times

• Number of intermediate stops

• Access level and last seat indicator

• Aircraft type

• Flight duration



If you search for low fares without a PNR, the recommendation display shows the fares in ascending order for all passengers, and the corresponding itineraries.

For example, a travel agent in London is searching for low fares for two adult passengers flying from London to Singapore on September 10, and returning ten days later.

The system offers up to 20 recommendations (recommendations 5-20 are not shown here).

If you search for low fares with a PNR present, the first recommendation shows the lowest fare available for the current PNR, that is, the price to beat. The other recommendations show lower fares in ascending order, or equal fares, for all passengers, and the corresponding itineraries.



For example, a customer would like to rebook his itinerary. He would prefer to fly with Qantas Airways, combined with any other airline. The following recommendation display appears (partial display):

What Are the Follow-up Entries?

You can use follow-up entries to select a recommendation, view fare and flight details, create a new booking, or rebook an existing itinerary.

From a recommendation display, you can:

• Book a recommendation directly from the display using either FXUn or FXZn, where n is the recommendation number.

The FXU entry books the recommendation and stores the TST; the FXZ entry books the recommendation without storing the TST.

• Select a recommendation using the FXSn entry, where n is the recommendation number.

• Select and book a recommendation using the FXSnFXZ or FXSnFXU combined entries, where n is the recommendation number.

Once you have selected a recommendation, you can:

• Request flight details with the DOn entry, where n is the flight segment number.

• Create a new booking (or rebook an existing one) using the FXZ entry (no TST creation).

• Create a new booking (or rebook an existing one) and store the TST, using the FXU entry.

Once you have booked a recommendation, you can:

• Display the fare notes with the FQNn entry, where n is the fare line number.

• Display the ticket image with the FQQn entry, where n is the passenger name element number.

• Display the booking code information with the FQSn entry, where n is the fare line number.

• Display the routing information with the FQRn entry, where n is the fare line number.

Note: If you rebook an existing itinerary, the system automatically cancels all obsolete segments and segment-associated elements.

What Happens at Booking Time?

When booking the requested itinerary, Amadeus automatically rebooks with the highest available access level, including Amadeus Direct Access Sell if necessary. As a result, if the booking is successful, you always get real-time confirmation of your seat.

Amadeus Value Pricer fully processes married segment control for carriers that support this feature, thus avoiding rejection at booking time.

- Display the flight information with the DOn entry, where n is the flight segment number

- Enter FXU or FXZ to book the recommendation. Enter FXU to book the recommendation with TST creation.

4. From the booked recommendation, you have several options:

- To check the fare notes, enter FQNn, where n is the fare line number - To see the booking code information, enter FQSn - To see the routing information, enter FQRn - To see the ticket image, enter FQQn, where n is the passenger name

A customer wants to book a flight for one adult and one youth passenger from Hamburg to Munich on Lufthansa, departing on September 15 returning 15 days later. To find low fares for this itinerary, follow these steps:

Overview

If you search for low fares without a PNR, the system proposes up to 20 low-fare itineraries based on the parameters in your entry.

From the display that appears you can select one of the recommendations. From the selected recommendation display, you can display the flight information with the DOn entry. After booking a recommendation, with TST (FXU) or without TST creation (FXZ), you can view the ticket image (FQQn), the fare note (FQNn), routing (FQRn), and booking code information (FQSn).

Conditions

You can request a maximum of:

• Six requested segments, including two surface sectors

• Four different cities.

Overview

If you perform a PNR-based search, the system proposes between four and 20 low-fare itineraries based on the parameters stored in the PNR.

You can customize your search by adding flight or fare options to the FXC entry. For more information on these options, see Amadeus Value Pricer Options on page 43.

The first recommendation shows the lowest fare available for the current PNR, that is, the price to beat. The other recommendations show lower fares in ascending order, or equal fares, for all passengers, and the corresponding itineraries.

Chapter 4 Amadeus Value Pricer with a PNR


From the display, you can select one of the recommendations, book a recommendation, replace the existing flight reservation, and optionally store the TST.

Conditions

The following conditions apply to a PNR-based search:

• You can only use FXU if:

- You have entered names in the PNR before making an FXC entry - The recommendation is homogeneous

• The system determines the number of passengers and itinerary data (origin and destination cities) from the flight segments, therefore do not specify these in your entry.

• If the PNR contains FD elements, do not specify the passenger type code in your entry.

• You cannot search for low fares in Temporary Ticketing (TY) mode.

Conditions also apply to the following parts of the PNR: name elements, flight segments, and FD elements.

Name Elements

With name elements, the Amadeus Value Pricer entry will fail if:

• The number of passengers occupying a seat exceeds nine.

• The PNR contains a group name.

• You attempt to passenger-associate. For example, if a PNR contains an adult, infant, and child passenger, you cannot enter FXC/P1 or FXC/P2.

Flight Segments

With flight segments, the Amadeus Value Pricer entry will fail if:

• The PNR is non-homogeneous.

• The selected flight segments in your Amadeus Value Pricer entry contain:

- open, passive, or ghost segments - segments booked using special action codes, for example UM

(Unaccompanied Minor) - more than six requested segments, including two surface sectors - more than four different cities

For example, the following itinerary contains two requested segments (Miami to Hongkong, and Hongkong to Miami) and two different cities (Miami and Hongkong). All other city and airport codes (LHR and BKK) are connecting points:

Amadeus Value Pricer Options

Here are the most commonly used Amadeus Value Pricer options. For more options, enter HE FXC in the distribution system.

Overview

You can specify preferences in your Amadeus Value Pricer entry, such as specific airlines or passenger type codes. If the system finds a fare that meets your requirements, it will display that fare even if a cheaper fare exists.

Options and Conditions

In your Amadeus Value Pricer entry, you can include the following options:

• Include or exclude a maximum of three airlines.

• Specify a cabin.

• Include or exclude a maximum of two specific connecting points.

• Request non-stop, direct, connecting, or change-of-gauge flights (or a combination).

• Specify either a departure or an arrival time.

• Specify a time window. This option is used in conjunction with the departure and arrival time entry. A default time window can be set for your office so that you don't need to enter this option.

• Specify Passenger Type Codes (PTCs).

The following conditions apply: - You can specify a maximum of six different PTCs. - Each PTC can comprise up to three codes, where each code is

separated by a ‘-‘. - The PTC input option and FD element cannot be combined for the same

passenger. - The FD elements cannot be segment-associated.

• Specify the ‘price to beat’.

The price to beat corresponds to the total amount (including taxes) for all passengers. The total fare proposed for each recommendation is either lower than or equal to the price to beat. The price to beat option cannot contain: - A decimal placement. - A currency code. Unless you override the currency in your FXC entry, the

system automatically calculates the fare using the currency specified in your office profile.

If you perform a Amadeus Value Pricer entry in an existing PNR, and you do not specify the price to beat, the system automatically calculates it for you.

Chapter 5 Amadeus Value Pricer Options


• Use pricing options in the FXC entry.

You can include more than one pricing option, provided that you specify them in the same /R entry. For example:

Time Window Option

A default time window can be set for your office. To request an update to the default value, please contact your local help desk.

When a default value is set at office level, you do not need to enter the time window option, unless you want to override the default setting or ignore the time window.

To specify a time window, and override the value set for your office (if any), enter:

You must combine this entry with the departure and arrival time options. For example, if you enter /TA0800/W2, the system searches for flights that arrive two hours before and two hours after 8 a.m.
