The Dovells' recording made the #2 spot on the Billboard magazine Hot 100 singles chart in 1961 . "Bristol Stomp" sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc.

The Hit That Never Was. I listened to this record over and over again as a child and it has fostered my passion for doo-wop music. Carlton records supported this song 100%, but it never hit. Years later, I was in touch with the granddaughter of Mary-Ellen Keegan, and got to tell her how much her record meant to me. Hope you enjoy this obscure bit of music history.
