We wish to contribute to the business of customers by o�ering user-friendlydocument devices and services to as many people as possible.

We develop products based on the user-centered design process in order to deeply

understand each customer and o�er better products and services.

This process consists of survey, planning, design, and evaluation.

The repetition of this process allows us to identify challenges, including slight

dissatisfaction that customers feel and concerns that customers have not noticed yet.

This is a product development approach that implements

improvements from various perspectives.

Through this activity, we promote the development of products that meet the needs of more customers.

This document presents various accessibility examples of our product. Features with special attention to vision, hearing, physical function, and recognition are indicated by the following icons:

User-Centered Design

SurveyI n fo rmat ion abou t the usage and use problems of d o c u m e n t d e v i c e s i s collected from sales and market support sites, call centers , and customer surveys, and is analyzed to iden t i f y and p r io r i t i ze challenges to be solved.

PlanningPlanners, designers, and eng ineers d iscuss the c h a l l e n g e s i d en t ified through surveys, to find the ideal products and their implementation methods. Experts in various fields engage in d iscuss ions depending on the theme of the challenge.

DesignT o c o m m e r c i a l i z e t h e p l a n n e d p r o d u c t s , d e v e l o p m e n t t e a m m e m b e r s , i n c l u d i n g designers and engineers, work together on product design. Furthermore, the designed products are reviewed based on user friendliness guidelines and check lists to bring them to perfection.

EvaluationSimulation and product evaluation are carried out to ver i fy i f ta rgets are achieved and new challenges are not caused. Customers and in-house monitors also p a r t i c i p a t e i n t h i s verification. If there are problems, the product goes through the previous steps for reexamination.

T h e s e t t i n g s c r e e n h a s a s i m p l e configurat ion wi th large fonts and buttons. Most setting operations can be carried out using the hard key numeric keypad only, so even users who are not familiar with the touch panel can operate the MFP easily. The heights of important letters are set to 4.8 mm or more.

Fonts and icons are displayed in large size on the large full-color touch screen. Furthermore, the finished quality and image of scanned document data and the image of saved print data can be previewed. Checking before printing ensures accurate operation.

Scalable View

U s e r s c a n flick o n t h e h o m e screen, pinch on the preview screen, and display the soft key numeric keypad when necessary, just like when intuitively operating a smartphone or tablet device.

The operation panel is adjustable to an easily viewable angle. Users in whee lcha i rs and short-statured users can operate i t at an opt imal angle . Th is feature can reduce the g lare of fluorescent light in the installation environment.

Tiltable Operation Panel

Users can use smartphone or tablet device to control the MFP. Remote o p e r a t i o n a n d w i t h o u t u s i n g t h e operation panel of the MFP can o�er greater control flexibility.

Mobile Accessibility

W i t h t h e e m b e d d e d s e r v e r , t h e administrator can remotely track paper and toner usages per user and the status of optional equipment installed. The embedded server also configures device settings, monitors jobs, and manages document boxes and address books.

The operation panel has a high c o n t r a s t b e t w e e n t h e b l a c k background and the white lettersi n o r d e r t o h i g h l i g h t l e t t e r s . Furthermore, the heights of the letters for the main function keys are designed to be at least 4.8 mm.

Animated Operation Guidance

Automatic Paper Size Detection

Users can open and close the paper drawer with just a slight f o r c e . F u r t h e r m o r e , t h e semi -au to -c los ing paper drawer does not need to be pushed to the end. The paper guide can be adjusted with a slight force by one hand.

A grip handle is adopted for the paper drawer for easy handling with either an overhand grip or underhand grip. Users can carry out paper replacement from a p o s t u r e t h a t a l l o w s e a s yoperation.

T h e p a p e r s i z e i sautomatically detected according to the paper guide. This prevents setting errors.
