Alvin Community College and Alvin

Independent School District have teamed up to give Alvin HS students the opportunity to

graduate from high school with college credits and for some students, possibly a two year

college degree.

According to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, 91,000 Texas high school students are earning college credits through dual credit programs.

During 2011-2012 school year, over 325 AHS students participated in dual credit classes offered

on the Alvin High School campus.

May be a part of a student’s high school schedule on the high school campus.

May be taken after the high school day has ended or during the summer at ACC

Dual Credit AP (Advanced Placement)

College course; earning both college & high school credit; credit earned will be on a college transcript

High school honors course; must take end of year exam to earn college credit; passing the class does not guarantee college credit

Must meet requirements to participate, dual credit is offered 9th-12th grades
