University of Houston-Clear Lake Office of Institutional Effectiveness Alumni Relations Survey Summer 2016 Summary In fall 2015, the offices of Institutional Effectiveness, Alumni Relations, and Career Services formed a committee to revise the old Alumni Survey into a more useful tool to meet the data needs. The new Alumni Relations Survey was built to capture the alumni experience at the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) three years after graduation and to determine the way their higher education helped establish their professional careers. The online Alumni Relations Survey was conducted in the summer semester of 2016 using Qualtrics survey software and iModules; it was launched in June 14 and ended on August 31, 2016. All alumni with current email addresses in iModules who graduated three years ago were invited to participate in the survey. The alumni data can be divided by school, by degree level, by gender, by ethnicity, by program or any of the above combinations. The average completion time for the survey was 10 minutes. The next five pages contain a short summary of data points by UHCL and by individual schools collected summer 2016 in the Alumni Relations Survey. Complete survey results are posted online at http://prtl.uhcl.edu/institutional-effectiveness/institutional-research/university-survey.

I would and I am currently working on my MBA.

I may have chosen to go to UH main campus instead.

Local, high quality and relevant education. I still see my professors and fellow alum at association meetings andoccasionally within my field.

Higher education across the board has grown too expensive; unjustified by actual salaries in the job market.

I would like to come back to get my MBA.

Class size, diversity, cost, and quality of education

I worked full time while attending UHCL. I did not like the class offerings for evening students. I found it extremelydifficult to attend a class once a week until 10 PM after working all day. I recently attending UHD to obtain theremaining credits to sit for the CPA exam and they had lots of class offerings multiple days a week. I feel that myperformance was better at this school because I had more flexibility in class selections. Also, I did not feel that thestudents at UHCL were friendly. I tried to get involved with BAP and I just often felt that I didn't have anything incommon with the members. I was able to participate in a professional accounting society at UHD and even becamea committee chair. I felt that they had much more opportunities for students to network with firms and hosted manyworkshops that emphasized professional and career growth. during my time at UHCL I utilized the counselingservices to help with the anxiety that goes with being a full time student. I highly recommend this program and I thinkit is the best thing that UHCL offers.

Expensive school, and I felt the emphasis was on UHCL's aggrandizement, not the interest of the students.

I have considered going to graduate school and UHCL would be my top choice.

MHA program lost CAHME accreditation which is the gold standard for MHA programs. Really think this programneeds to be re accredited to maintain its quality perception.

I would have dual- majored with Environmental Management AND Environmental Science

Being a non-traditional student, I already had a career path. UHCL provided me an opportunity to excel in that path.

I do feel that the accounting instructors at UHCL had more expertise than at UHD but the accounting instructors atUHD made more effort in making sure students understood material before moving on to the next subject.

Related to business.

Such a positive experience, great campus, nurturing environment, strong networking opportunities, and continuingsupport make UHCL "THE CLEAR CHOICE" for anyone wanting to grow academically.

Yes and No. I think UHCL is a great choice for younger students that maybe live at home with their parents but Iwouldn't recommend it for professionals working full time because of the evening class format.

Reasonable costs for a great education in an awesome city.

Great local, high quality school with excellent professors

It was convenient and good quality education.

Needs to get CAHME accreditation again to remain competitive.

Had wonderful experiences and has helped me in my career.
