● Known much earlier as alum● Used to help dyes stick to cloth● Also spelled: Aluminium

● 1855- more expensive than gold● Napoleon III had specially madealuminum silverware

● Take a look around the room and see all the aluminum

● Soda cans, chairs, bats, glasses frames, inside your TV, protecting you from the blades of a fan….Everywhere!

● Can be thick or thin- Versatile

Aluminum: The King of Travel

● Aircrafts, space shuttles, cars, trains, trucks and boats

● Low Density = Low Weight● Strong when heat treated● Other metals are stronger and others

are lighter, but aluminum is the perfect mix of the two
