S leigh Bells will release their sophomore al-bum, entitled Reign of Terror, on February 20th, 2012 on Liberator Music. Produced by guitarist Derek Miller, and written by

Miller and singer Alexis Krauss, Reign of Terror is the highly anticipated follow up to 2010’s Treats.

Prior to Reign of Terror’s release, Sleigh Bells will embark on a full tour of Florida, where Miller grew up, with fellow Floridian Diplo and Brooklyn’s Liturgy.

Upon unleashing Treats into the world, Sleigh Bells quickly became the most exciting new band to emerge from their hometown of New York City. Treats’ deft, stylish combination of genres, sounds, and dynamics was simply unprecedented. The album’s own extreme volume was matched by the deafening roar of praise, landing the band everywhere and putting the record on over 50 year-end lists for 2010. Sleigh Bells toured be-hind Treats relentlessly, opening for the likes of LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip, Yeasayer and Major Lazer before headlining their own shows, many of which sold out in mere minutes. They played lauded, exhilarating sets at festivals around the globe, confirming their status as a sheer tour de force on the stage.

It is this intense live energy, coupled with the continued desire to carve out new musical ter-rain, which runs throughout their new album, Reign of Terror. Engineered by Shane Stoneback, who helped to record Treats, songs on Reign of

Terror are as crushing and authoritative as their title suggests; they’re effortlessly robust and heavier than any of the band’s previous output, but more melodic as well, the sonic equivalent of a beautiful shotgun to the head. Packed densely with stomping beats, shredding Jackson guitar riffs, sinister ribbons of Alexis Krauss’ candy-coated vocals, and the cries of a pep rally gone terribly wrong, Reign of Terror is a record that, like its predecessor, redefines everything you think music can be.

Track listing:

1. True Shred Guitar 2. Born To Lose 3. Crush 4. End Of The Line 5. Leader Of The Pack 6. Comeback Kid 7. Demons 8. Road To Hell 9. You Lost Me 10. Never Say Die 11. D.O.A.

As the countdown begins to the most celebrated event in the British music calendar, The BRIT Awards with MasterCard announce today that Blur will be the 2012 winners of the Outstanding Contribution to Music award.

Blur have influenced the sound and attitude of British music for over twenty years. This prestigious award, which was rested last year, returns in 2012 to recognise their phenomenal achievements. In collecting the trophy, they join some of the world’s most influential names in music who have all previously been honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to Music award. These include Paul McCartney, U2, Paul Weller, Oasis, Sting, The Who, Fleetwood Mac, Van Morrison and Queen.

Speaking about this award, Blur said:

“It’s great to have recognition for all the work and all the heartache and all the joy that’s gone into this band.” - Damon Albarn

“Being in a band this long is like a kind of time travel. We’re the same gang we ever were, we’ve just landed in a different era. Or possibly we’re a to-tally different Blur still playing the old tunes in 1991… forever. I haven’t decided. But it’s always nice to get a BRIT Award.” - Graham Coxon

On the reintroduction of the award, BRITs Chairman David Joseph said:

“Blur are a seminal British band who have long been worthy Outstanding Contribution winners. Their contribution to British music is immense. Blur are the perfect band to bring this award back for.”

BPI Chairman Tony Wadsworth, former MD of Parlophone and CEO and Chairman of EMI Music, who has worked with Blur throughout their career, commented:

“I feel fortunate to have worked with Blur through-out their career - our relationship is a special one and I’m thrilled that the BRITs Committee and the BPI Council are keen to recognise blur’s amazing impact on music.”

The BRITs 2012 Nominations Launch event will be held on Thursday 12th January from 5pm at The Savoy Hotel from 5pm.

Since forming in the late Eighties, the band have been one of the most influential and inventive acts of the last two decades, feted both for their glorious songwriting and musicianship and an ability to crystallise the moment in a song. Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree changed the face of British mu-sic in the Nineties when they were championed as the kings of Britpop but have always refused to stand still, constantly pushing boundaries and inspiring countless bands after them. Their debut album ‘Leisure’ was released in 1991, the first of seven studio albums. In 2009 the original line up reformed to play a number of concerts including two dates at Hyde Park, which sold out in minutes, and a headline performance at the Glastonbury Festival, which was hailed by critics as one of the festival’s defining moments. The band, who have won countless awards in their career, won their first BRIT Award in 1995, clearing up that year with four awards for Best Band, Best Video, Best Album (Parklife) and Best Single (Parklife). In total they have received an incredible 15 BRIT Award nominations.

Like all winners on the night, Blur will be presented with an exclusive trophy designed for this year only by Sir Peter Blake. This is the sec-ond year the BRITs have asked a leading British creative icon to style the ‘blank canvas’ tro-phy, following Dame Vivienne Westwood’s suc-cess last year. Sir Peter is responsible for some of the most iconic album sleeves of all time in-cluding The Beatles’ ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ and Paul Weller’s ‘Stanley Road’ as

well as the single sleeve for Band Aid’s ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’

The BRIT Awards 2012 with MasterCard will be presented by James Corden on the 21st February and will once more return to The O2, the location for last year’s much-talked-about ceremony which featured performances from Mumford & Sons, Take That, Rihanna, Arcade Fire, Tinie Tempah, Cee Lo Green, Plan B and Adele. The awards will be broadcast live on ITV1.

More details of the 2012 Awards will be announced soon.

“Coldplay understands how to make a shared moment from a song…their respect for their fans is obvious,” said The Times of London in a review of the band’s Glastonbury set. Coldplay’s headline appear-ance at Lollapalooza before the release of Mylo Xyloto prompted Time Out Chicago to observe: “I’ve never seen a band’s unheard material go over so well” while USA Today noted: “Standouts included Charlie Brown with Jonny Buckland’s sticky, uplifting guitar work, and the soft, romantic Us Against The World, which featured drummer Will Champion on piano and backing vocals.”

“Charlie Brown,” Coldplay’s next single, will go to radio later this month.

“Austin City Limits,” the world’s longest-running live music tele-vision series, will ring in the New Year with a performance by Coldplay.

The first-ever ACL New Year’s Eve special – a rare 90-minute episode – can be seen on PBS stations nationwide on Saturday, December 31, at 11 p.m. (check local listings). “Coldplay New Year’s Eve: An Austin City Limits Special” can also be viewed on demand on PBS: Public Broadcasting Service starting at 11 p.m. ET that evening.

Mylo Xyloto (Capitol Records) is Coldplay’s third consecutive studio album to debut atop both The Billboard 200 and the U.K. album chart. It also hit the No. 1 spot in all 35 iTunes stores around the world, breaking the record for the highest num-ber of download sales in one week – a milestone Coldplay first achieved with the release of Viva La Vida, which was the No. 1 selling album worldwide of 2008, according to IFPI.

Coldplay – comprising Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland, Will Champion and Chris Martin – has sold more than 50 million records world-wide and won numerous awards, including seven GRAMMY® Awards, six Brit Awards and four MTV Video Music Awards.
