FLASHGUARD industrial spark plugs are designed to in -crease effective spark plug service life by reducing ashover andelectrode erosion while optimizing combustion and minimizingradio frequency interference (RFI).

A variety of electrode congurations and reaches to preciselymatch the spark plug to the application

FLASHGUARD spark plugs feature a proprietary spark plugnose cone designed to minimize internal ashover-relatedmisre often referred to as cone discharge

Reduced radio frequency interference (RFI) and electrode ero-sion due to the integration of a high ohmic internal resistor

Electrode designs and large internal nose cone clearances al-

low for superior scavenging and circulation of the combustiblemixture between the electrodes which ultimately leads toimproved combustion stability

Most Altronic FLASHGUARDspark plugs are constructedfor use with the tight-tting, Altronic FLASHGUARDsecond-ary leads for further reduction in ashover and improved sparkplug service life

Modern spark-ignited gas engines, particularly high perfor-mance, lean-burn congurations, demand that increasinglyhigher voltage levels be delivered to the spark plug to insure astrong spark at the plug electrodes. The FLASHGUARD familyof products has been developed by Altronic to meet the indus-

try need for high-quality secondary leads and spark plugs tocomplement its high performance digital ignition systems, suchas the DISN, CPU-95, and CPU-2000.

The ignition system is only as good as its weakest link, whichtraditionally has been the delivery of the high voltage sparkenergy between the ignition coil and spark plug electrodes.FLASHGUARD products provide an effective solution, evenin demanding applications, and offer engine users reducedoperating and fuel costs, as well as less frequent spark plugchanges. Developed for use on medium and large-bore natural gas-fueled engines, these plugs

are suitable for stoichiometric and lean-burnapplications (open-chamber or pre-chamber).This design is particularly helpful for applicationsin which air/fuel mixing and scavenging isirregular or voltage demand (due to leanoperation or high compression ratio) is high. Themassive designs are available in both 18mm and7/8"-18 thread sizes and with various reaches.

FLASHGUARDPrecious Metal Spark Plugs

Lean-burn engines, which require a sparkin excess of 30,000 volts, and expose thespark plug to elevated temperatures, require

more frequent spark plug maintenance andreplacement. Precious-metal Altronic sparkplugs, due to their intrinsically high resistanceto erosion, offer substantially improved life andperformance. Altronic platinum (DP) designsshould be used only in open-chamber engines.Iridium-platinum plugs (IP) may be used in bothopen and pre-combustion chamber engines.Both types provide very long operating life inconventional engines.

DP Series to-wire Plainum Elecrodes:

Offer moderate price and enhanced performancefor open-chamber, lean-burn applications.

DP-series plugs are available in 14mm, 18mm,and 7/8"-18 sizes and unshielded and integralversions.

IP Series Iridium-Platinum Electrodes:

The L1863IP model ts many popularengines

such as the Caterpillar G3500 , G3600, and

Waukesha AT and VHP-GL-series engines. Theiridium center electrode assures long life in open-chamber or pre-chamber lean-burn engines.
