Wind Power ERMU supports the use of alternative energy options by purchasing electricity from wind power at a slight premium over what we pay for electricity generated by conventional power plants. Currently the wind power comes from 21 wind generators on wind farms located near Chandler, Dodge Center, and Trimont, Minnesota.

Customers have the option to purchase electricity from this environmentally friendly source. You can purchase wind power in blocks of 100 kilowatt-hours for an additional $.80 per month/block. Customers can purchase any amount of wind power that they would like, but if you want to purchase all of your power through wind, you will need to calculate your average monthly electric usage. Customers might want to consider purchasing one block less than their average. One block is 100 kWh/month. For example, if you typically use 600 kWh per month, you would want to purchase five blocks (500 kWh) per month.

To purchase blocks of wind power, please fill out the form below and mail it to our office at P.O. Box 430, Elk River, MN 55330. The additional charges will be applied to your bill. This commitment is for one year and will continue unless you notify utility staff that you would like to discontinue participation in the wind program.
