    Hi Dominique,

I am so very sorry for the protracted delay in finishing this short piece, shallunderstand if you no longer wish to use it. My 'excuses' include illness, relationship termination, depression, xmas , snow and laziness !

I had hoped that the whole essay would be of use to you, using my name inassociation with Browne would have resulted in far greater 'hits' for yourweb-site. I've entrusted you (the long essay) with what i consider to be a quitean original piece of lengthy research and interpretation, what will you do withit? Delete or be discreet?

Looking at the number of sponsers listed on your web-site amazes me. I've beeninvolved in promoting and studying Browne for 14 years now and have never hadthat much luck in attracting sponsership, having to do everything off my own batso to speak.

Did you look at my other on-line essays? (Just type sir thomas browne kevinfaulkner into google to find them).

Please , please don't forget me should anything else come up about Browne as heis my primary artistic project. From a visual imaginative aspect the Museumtract is well worth developing, Sebald brought it to prominence in 'The Rings ofSaturn' . Be careful not to stray too far from facts ! People do have atendency to mould Browne into their own artistic perspective/ideological stance.

Reading Religio gives a great psychological insight into the man whilePseudodoxia has many instances of B's sly hiumour. Not entirely convinced thatfragility is a particular theme of Browne's, Kristof's 'expert witness'statement unravels years of attempting to keep the witch-trial in proportion. But if you look at the other major works there is some dodgy non PC stuffincluding a very dangerous statement about Islam in Religio Medici, a product ofhis times maybe, but also a real incendenary quotation in the wrong hands.

Am still writing a book on him from an esoteric perspective. Some interestingconnections to Kabbalah and Thomas Vaughan, for example Vaughan describes theprima materia of the alchemists as the 'couch of Venus' in Cyrus one reads of'the bed of Cleopatra'.

Hope that the attached pics can be used, but if you feel that you no longer wishto edit in html anymore okay.

Hoping we meet again in warmer times! Cannot resist these two topical quotes

'Miseries are slippery,or fall like snow upon us' and 'which maketh Pyramidspillars of snow' both from chapter 5 Urn-Burial

    All the very best Kevin.

HI Kevin,AS long as your name does not feature on the POCA (protection of children act) or POVA(protection of vulnerable adults) list then you are prefectly entitled to aply for any work. Justbecause you have a criminal record does not mean that you barred from the type of work u wishto do. If you are applying for work that involves a CRB check (which work in care and education

would do) then all cautions and convictions would show. THis is because the employer is allowedfull access to your record as the positions you are applying for are exempt from the rehabilitationof offenders act 1974. Therefore they are allowed to take into consideration anything that showson a CRB check, however if they are happy with your explanation as to why it occured and why itwould not occur again then there is no reason as to why you would not get the job.Make sure you inform the empolyer of your record before they get the disclosure back, this wayyou look a more honest and trustworthy candidate but you can also put the offences into context.Address issues such as relevance of the offence, seriousness of it, how long ago it was, circumstances at the time and change of circumstances since then. Reassure the empolyer thatyou do not pose a present day risk. If your conviction is spent then you would not have to disclosethis for jobs that do not involve a CRB.I have attached our guide on applying for work with a criminal record.I hope this is helpful.

I aquired my very own copy of Sir Thomas Browne's vast catalogue of refuted errors PseudodoxiaEpidemica: or, Enquiries into Very many Received Tenents, and commonly Presumed Truths(1646) via an ebay auction in March 2006. It's providence was from charlottesville, Loiusiana. Nocopies surivie of publications of Urn-Burial and The Garden of Cyrus but amazingly appended to

this edition of Pseudodoxia is . The Discourses open with the two dedicatory epistles first, following each other, strong evidence that its author intentended the two Discourses to be readand meditated upon jointly. Pseudodoxia was in fact one of the earliest, if not the first, of themany an early european encyclopedia which contributed to the 17th century scientific revolution.Although to us today with our vastly increased scientific knowledge , Pseudodoxia may itselfcontain 'vulgar' or common errors itself in other ways modern readers Pseudodoxia (also knownas Vulgar Errors)prepared a readership for much of the way for popular scientific journalismsubsequently published in England. . In its day Pseudodoxia Epidemica was a best-seller andwas placed upon the shelves of many English households. It was published in no less than sixeditions (1646,1650,1658 twice,1659 and 1672) and translated into several European languages.

Appendiced to Browne's encyclopaedia is a so-called An Alphabetical Table. In all probability thisindex was compiled by Browne. It has never previously before been published in any edition of

Browne's works , so is available here for the very first time. And just as Jore borges Loncedeclared to write vast books is a laborious ., a quick scroll down of the topics listed here soon thebreadth and depth of Browne's curiousity, knowledge and scientific investigation. whichindicates the wide spectrum of subjects covered in its pages.the Index lists his main sources asauthors commended, his many experiments as well as the astronomical, historical, biblical andzoological queries which preoccupied him . Queries range from the cosmological such as'Cosmographers, why they divide their Globe into East and West', to the theological - 'whether ourB. Saviour ever laughed', to the aesthetic '-Beauty- Determined chiefly by opinion, or the severalapprehensions of people', to the medical '-Drunkenness, or to be drunk once a moneth, whether itbe healthfull', to the revealing esoteric entry ,'-Philosophers Stone, not improbable to be procured'. However an entry such as, 'Abilities, (scientifical especially,) ought to be improved' and' Candle, one discharged out of a Musket through an inch board', are indicative of the empirical nature ofBrowne's essentially Baconian quest.

Page numbers by entry refer to the 1658 fourth edition and will be replaced by standardised Bookand Chapter listings of modern editions shortly.
