O n April 25, 2008, over 100 TKE alumni gathered to celebrate Alpha Xi’s 75th Anniversary, reconnect with old friends, and make new ones. The weekend included special gatherings of the 60’s and 90’s eras, a BBQ and open house at the TKE house, and concluded with a celebratory banquet at the embassy Suites on the River. Throughout the weekend there were two themes that ran constant: Remembering our past and looking towards our future. We had a chance to recognize Fraters who have helped make Alpha xi what it is today and meet those young and up-and-coming men who will lead us towards tomorrow. It was a celebration, a recognition of accomplishments, and a challenge to make sure that Alpha Xi is prepared to take on the next 75 years. This newsletter is going to deviate just a bit from the typical issue. We are not going to talk about chapter news, not going to cover alumni news, but we are going to focus on celebrating our 75th, recognizing those who have helped get us here and look towards our future. I hope you will join me in congratulating those who have given so much to TKE, and I hope this issue will inspire you to consider giving just a bit back yourself. we need your time, your energies, your ideas, and yes, your dollars. Two challenges for you: think about those five Founders, Truitt, McNutt, Mayer, Settles, and Atkinson and the difference they have made in the lives of over 250,000 men. Just because they believed in something and made it come alive. Now think about how your life has benefited from your experiences in Alpha Xi, the skills you learned and the many friendships you have made. Today, collectively, we have the same opportunity as our founders, to help ensure a strong legacy at Alpha Xi and to provide the same opportunities for growth, development, and lifelong friendship to future generations of Tekes. Will you take the challenge? Will you give some of your time and resources? On the cover letter there are check boxes for some critical needs we have, some short- term, some long-term. Take a few minutes and tell us how you can help. Thank you for a great weekend, for new friends, and I look forward to seeing everyone at the next great Alpha Xi event. Yours in the Bond, Brian L.
