Echinacea has a rich tradition in the culture of theNorth American Plains Indians, who used it morethan any other plant to help maintain their healthduring the winter time. STEP 1Cleanse with Aloe Bath Gelée andloofahExperience an Aloe Bath Gelée luxury -cleanse, exfoliate, revitalize, massage,enrich, and relax with our exclusive AloeBath Gelée and loofah. Apply Aloe BathGelée to loofah and work into a richlather by massaging the skin in a gentlemotion; rinse. Use daily to give your skina soft, smooth glow.

STEP 2Mark and MeasureYou may want to keep a record of yourmeasurements to track inch loss. Prior tothe toning process, lay a tape measureflat against your skin and mark your skinabove and below the measuring tape witha permanent felt-tip pen. The marks area guide to assist you in measuringaccurately. Once the toning process iscomplete, measure again placing the tapemeasure between the marks.

STEP 3Apply Aloe Body TonerTest a small patch of skin for allergicreactions prior to application of the AloeBody Toner. If after 24 hours no rednessor itching occurs, then smooth liberallyover the areas you wish to tone. The AloeBody Toner has a warming andstimulating effect on the skin; moretoner may be applied to increase theseeffects.

STEP 4Apply Plastic WrapWrap the plastic wrap around the areaswhere Toner has been applied. DO NOTWRAP FACE, NECK, CHEST,SHOULDERS, FOREARMS, CALVESor GENITAL AREAS. While in a relaxed position, leave thewrap in place for approximately onehour. Do not engage in any strenuousphysical activity and do not fall asleep.Using blunt-tip scissors, remove anddiscard the used plastic wrap. Measureagain, placing the tape measure betweenthe marks. Subtract the total from theoriginal measurements - the differencerepresents your overall inch loss. Massagein any remaining Aloe Body Toner lefton the skin.

MaintenanceAloe Body Conditioning CremeBetween body wraps, liberally apply AloeBody Conditioning Creme to the entirebody for smooth, glowing skin. Some Helpful Information About the Sun and Tanning

• Take sensible precautions to avoid sunburn,particularly in children.

• Limit unprotected exposure to solar radiation,especially during the hottest midday hoursbetween 10am and 2pm.

• Seek shade wherever possible, but remembersunburn can occur even while in partial shade.

• Sunburn can also occur while in the water, andcan be equally damaging from the high level ofreflected UV radiation off snow or sand.

• Covering your head with a wide-brimmed hat orcap, reduces exposure to the face, head and neck.

• Cover exposed skin with protective clothing,such as long-sleeved shirts.

of its effects are beneficial. However, acomponent of sunlight that is invisible to oureyes is ultraviolet, or UV light. As we travel tohotter climates on vacations, and suntan as oftenas possible, incidences of skin cancer risedramatically. Research shows that nearly all skincancers are caused by the sun, and fall into twomain types: Non-melanomas, although rarelyfatal, account for about 5% of registeredmalignancies, and predominantly affect theelderly. Malignant melanomas, on the otherhand, occur in a much younger age group, andaccount for just under 10% of cancers in the 20-

39 age group. This rate has doubled over the lastfifteen years and is now the cause of 1 in 25cancer deaths in this age group. Taking more careof our skin in the sun could help to drasticallyreduce this statistic.

• Sunlight contains two types of UV radiation,known simply as UVA and UVB. Both typescause changes to the skin, but there areimportant differences. Remember: A is forAging, B for Burning. UVA penetrates deeply,leading to drying, wrinkling, sagging (fromreduced elasticity) and blemishes (such as ‘liverspots’). UVB, produces surface damage rangingfrom a slight redness to severe blistering.

• The Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of a cream orlotion, indicates the level of protection offeredagainst the effects of prolonged exposure tosunlight. It is the ratio of the UV exposureneeded to produce minimal erythema (redness)on a skin site protected by the sun cream,compared to the UV exposure needed to producecomparable erythema on unprotected skin. Thegreater the SPF number, the longer the skin canbe exposed to direct sunlight without damage.Nevertheless, even when using a good sunscreen,common sense is vital!
