In this issue of Allstars Kids Magazine we meet Funny Man Dan, a really fun guy who does amazing kids stuff at Hillsong Church, Australia.He’s fun, super funny and tells us a bit about himself.

What do you do?I am a Kids Comedian/Entertainer/Writer/Hair Stylist (I made that last one up). I have been performing

my comedy acts for the kids at my Hillsong Kids for over 12 years. I also write and act in a TV Style kids show for churches called Hillsong Big. That is a

lot of fun as one minute we can be talking at a table and the next we can be super spy’s in space. I once even got to act in a video where I played all the characters

including an talk show host, the director, the makeup artist, the stage hand and even my Mum!!!!!

What’s the best thing about what you do?I get to make kids laugh. Laughing is my favourite thing to do in the whole wide

world and I try and share that with as many kids as I can. Even when things go wrong I enjoy it. One time I was standing on a barrel about to do a trick and

I said ‘One, two, thr........’ and the barrel broke and I fell to the ground. Everybody couldn’t stop laughing including me.

5 things you couldn’t live without?My wife, My kids, My headphones, My Pillow, My Head (I learnt that at school)

What’s your favourite ever food?My favourite healthy food is Oatmeal/Porridge with fresh strawberries. My favourite not healthy food is also strawberries............. except covered in melted chocolate fondue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also dip in bananas, cherries and even sometimes lollies like Red Frogs. For the best chocolate fondue you must choose Cadbury Original Dairy Milk.

Favourite Bible verse that encourages you?Matthew 5:16This is one of my favourite verses because it gives us the permission to be awesome. You don’t have to worry about being a show off, if you have the right attitude people will see you and then praise not you but God for the gifts He gave you.

Who are you?My name is Funny Man Dan or FMD. A lot of people what to know my if my real name is Dan and it is. My father favourite joke is to tell people he is Mr Man Dan..... Funny’s Dad. Got to love a Dad Joke

In the days of Herod the King, in the town of Nazareth, there lived a young woman named Mary. She was going to marry a carpenter, whose name was Joseph.Now the angel Gabriel was sent from God to Nazareth, to the house where Mary lived. And the angel said,

“Hello, Mary! Blessed are you among women, for God has chosen you to be the mother of his Son. You shall give birth to a baby boy, and he shall be called Jesus.”

And Mary said, “Let what you have said be done.” And the angel left.

Now, while Mary was waiting for her child to be born, and order went out for every person to return to the town of his birth, so that a count could be made of all the people in the land. And Joseph and Mary left Nazareth together to go to Bethlehem, where Joseph was born.

When they reached Bethlehem, Mary knew it was time for the baby to be born. But the town was filled with people and there was no room for them at the inn. So the innkeeper led them to his stable.

And there Mary gave birth to her son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes. She laid him in a manager, with the ox and the ass standing by.

Now there were some shepherds in the fields

nearby, keeping watch over their flocks by night. And the angel of the Lord appeared before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around.

The shepherds crouched, trembling among their sheep, but the angel said to them:“Don’t be afraid, I bring you good news! Today in Bethlehem a child is born and he is Christ the Lord. This is a sign to you, that you will find the baby wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.”

And a lot of other angels appeared and began praising God and singing;“Glory to God in the highest and peace on earth, goodwill to all men.”

The shepherds left their flocks and hurried to the stable; and when they found Mary and Joseph and the baby lying in the manger, they knelt before him and worshipped him. Then they returned home, praising God for all that they had seen, and all the people who heard them hastened to Bethlehem to see the baby for themselves.

There came also three wise men from the east, who had seen a bright light in the skies. Bearing gifts, they travelled far across seas and mountains, until they reached the city of Jerusalem.

“Where is the baby who is born to be king?” they asked, “We have seen his star in the east, and have come to worship.”

Now King Herod was troubled when he heard of this other King, more powerful than himself. And he sent for the wise men saying:

“Go and search for the child and return once you have found him, so that I too may come and worship him.” But the King meant to kill Jesus.

And the star shone bright in the skies, guiding the wise men onwards, till it lead them to Bethlehem, and the stable where the baby lay. And when they found the baby with Mary, his mother, the wise men laid their gifts before him and worshipped him. Then they opened up their treasures for the baby - gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

But being warned by God in a dream not to return to King Herod, they departed to their own country by another way.

And in time Joseph took Mary and the baby Jesus home to Nazareth, and the baby grew tall and strong: and the grace of God was upon him.

I recently played a concert in Little Rock, Arizona at First Assembly of God chruch. I

was there a couple years ago and their children’s pastor, Brian Dollar is a friend.

I remember as “Roots for the Journey” first released hearing a story about a sick

little girl in Brian’s church. If you don’t know much about “Roots for the Journey”,

it’s scripture filled music that is very acoustic, calm, peaceful and worship filled.

This music is soothing to the soul and renews the mind that God’s Word is true,

living and active. It’s promises are for us, today, no matter what we face.

At my concert last night, I received a special gift. I got to meet Morgan.

The little girl who although at one point was near death is now healthy and strong

and you would never have known she had been so sick last year. She’s adorable by

the way. Morgan has spent the past couple weeks working on a gift for me.

She painted a picture with a guitar on it (and did a mighty fine job!)

and the message “When words fail, music speaks.” Here is the sweet message that

her Mum wrote on the back of the picture about Morgan’s story and the affect that

music played in their family’s life.

Yancy, In April of 2013 Morgan, who was 6 years old at the time, became very ill.

She was hospitalized for a long time, including an extensive stay in ICU. For days no

one could tell us if she would survive the unknown illness. But, God healed our baby!

She eventually gained speech and motor skills back. After a long journey we brought

her home. Unexpectedly she began struggling with very traumatic flash backs of

everything she had been through. She was gripped with fear. We prayed-we had

friends praying. Words failed us as we tried to comfort her. Then a package from you

arrived. That night we played “Roots for the Journey” in her room as she went to

bed. She slept so peacefully and has never again had fear or flashbacks. Your music

spoke when words failed. Thank you for sharing God’s gift through song.

Most people think that all sprout look the same, but there are actually over 50 varieties of the mini green cabbages to avoid if you’re not a fan.

The freshest sprouts are green with a white base. If they are slightly yellow or brown it means they’re getting old.

Overcooking sprouts makes them smell like rotten eggs.

Linus Urbanec of Sweden holds the Guinness World Record for most Brussels sprouts eaten in one minute! That number is 31 and the record was set in 2008.

Make a Family song!Everyone in your family is awesome. So why not make a song or a poem about your family. You don’t need anyone to play any instruments - but could be fun if they did. Why not write the ideas down and then record it on a phone or camera. You could even make a video! You can then sing this at family events or teach it to your wider family. Maybe have a verse for each person!

Here at Allstars Kids Magazine we know that making time as a family is sooooooo cool and really important. So here are some fun ideas you can try this Christmas!

Make a cool Family Cookbook!This is really fun! Why not experiment as a family in the kitchen by making new foods.

Try some old family recipes and make a few new creations. Why not add some new

ingredienst, or some crazy thing. Most importantly, write them down.

When you finally get that tasty dish, write it down so you can make it again.

Begin to build a Family Recipe Cookbook and you will be amazed how

many delicious meals you can cook in a short time. This is also something

great as a present for Grandparents, cousins, neighbours and the dentist

(well maybe not the dentist!)

Indoor Homemade Bowling Alley!If it’s cold and snowing, why not stay indoors and create your own bowling alley.

Make some pins out of empty cans and use a rubber ball to knock them down.

You could paint the cans to look bright and fun. Why not get some white masking

tape (the kind used when painting) and put on the floor to create alley lines. Maybe

you could serve pop corn and put on some fun music. Don’t forget to keep the score!

34 Homemade Christmas Crackers!Here’s a great activity to do as a family. Why not make your own Christmas Crackers. You can then fill them with little gifts, or even specific gifts for different family members (a pen for your mum, nail clippers for your brother, sweets for Granny!)and if you already have some for Christmas, don’t worry - you can make some for your New Years eve party! You could also stick name on the crackers them down. Always fun and great to open at dinner time.

In this Christmas issue we’re looking at the awesome PENGUINS & REINDEER. We think they are pretty amazing animals. Well God did make them! So here are some interesting facts you may or may not know... (once you know them you can impress your friends and family!)

Penguins are amazing swimmers. They can swim 15-20 miles per hour.

Penguins are carnivores. They eat shrimps, krill, squids, fish…

Out of 18 known species of penguin, 5 species are endangered.

Penguins live between 15 and 20 years, depending on the species.

They can keep their breath for 20 minutes and can dive deeper than any other bird.

They can sniff out the plant easily, even through snow that is 60 centimeters deep.

They are the only species of deer that both the male and female have antlers.

Reindeer really like to snack on fungi, herbs, lichens and sedges. Tasty!

They walk slowly but can run pretty fast - they can run as fast as 48 mph!

Miller was born blind, but that does not stop him from serving in KidSpring! For years, this highschooler has taught kids about Jesus on

their level each week using a lesson that’s been transcribed into braille. We are so thankful that Miller doesn’t let

anything stop him from being a saved person who serves people!

Now you can decorate it to look AWESOME. You

can stick paper, feathers, pompoms - in fact anything

you like!

Then put a line of elec-trical tape or Duct Tape over the sharp edge and

fold it over. This will make is smooth and safe.

Carefully cut along the line on the Milk Carton. You might need some

help as the plastic can be a little sharp.

Using a ruler and a black marker, mark a line all

around the Milk Carton. About a third of the way

from the bottom.

Gather together all the items you need. Make

sure you have washed the plastic carton out well

God gave us the most amazing gift ever at Christmas, His son Jesus. So lets try and be generous to others everyday. 24

All these people are good friends to have. But the best, best friend is Jesus. He is the only one who died for us. He always has time for us, is always ready to listen, protects us and is very, very wise.

We can’t see Jesus, because He now lives in heaven. But we can learn all about Him in the Bible. We can also talk to Him by praying, and His Holy Spirit is here to help us. Wherever we go, whatever we do and whoever we are we know that Jesus is on our side. Life with Jesus is never dull. He’s always got something exciting planned for us to do.

Make your own OATY Cookies!Some yummy things you can make at home!

You will need:-• 1/2 a level tsp of Bicarbonate of soda• A handful of raisins• 75g (3oz) Demeara sugar• 75g (3oz) Plain flour• 75g (3oz) of butter or dairy free margarine• 75g (3oz) yummy porridge oats• 1 tbsp golden syrup (it’s so yummy!)

1. So here we go. Wash your hands and make sure the surface is clean

2. Put the plain flour in a bowl with half a level teaspoon of bicarbonate

of soda.

3. Add the demerara sugar and porridge oats and stir together really well.

4. Carefully heat the butter in a pan with a tablespoon of golden syrup.

5. Mix it all together in the pan with a wooden spoon.

6. When it has cooled, roll into small balls.

This should give you around 25 of them)

7. Put them on a greased baking tray and put in the oven at Gas Mark

3/160 for 12 minutes or until a yummy golden brown

8. Let them cool down and enjoy!

Yum yum!

Make sure you ask permission before you start cooking up a storm in the kitchen!
