Allergen/Cross-ContACtQ: When did you first become involved in Allergen Awareness?A: I was always interested in nutrition and dietary as a profession, but that became elevated when I discovered my eldest son had milk, egg, wheat and peanut allergies. Parents of children with food allergies, and children themselves, are scared to eat when food is prepared by someone else and that is hard, especially in a college setting where students want to be with their friends.

Q: How has Hubert helped Purdue enhance its Allergen Awareness program?A: Hubert offered a great service by having a passion to find allergen products for Purdue when other people were not offering these products. Hubert spent the time talking with my staff, chefs and me to get to know what products we needed and developed cooking and baking Allergen Kits. They worked with vendors to supply specific allergen items and we ended up with a user friendly set that still meets our needs to this day. The allergen kits give my staff the confidence to support the

students and build trust.

Q: Have you seen any new trends around Allergen Awareness?A: I think that, overall, people are working to be more allergen aware.

As an allergen-aware parent, educator and Dining Court Supervisor that makes me happy.

Q: What would you like to see happen in the future with Allergen Awareness?A: At Purdue, my dream is to have a dedicated station exclusive of the
