Este año celebramos el 54 Aniversario del Día Mundial de Oración por las Vocaciones. La Jornada Mundial de Oración por las Vocaciones constituye un testimonio público de la comunidad en oración para obedecer el mandato del Señor: “Rueguen al dueño de la cosecha que envíe obreros a su co-secha” (Mt 9, 38; Lc 10, 2). Como el culmen de una oración incesante; reafirma, además, la primacía de la fe y de la gracia en lo rela-tivo a las vocaciones al sacerdocio y a la vida consagrada. Aun expresando su estima por todas las vocaciones, la Iglesia, con ocasión de esta Jornada Mundial, centra su atención particularmente en las vocaciones consagradas: a los ministerios ordenados (presbiterado y diaconado); a la vida religi-osa en todas sus formas (masculina y femenina, contemplativa y apostólica); a las sociedades de vida apostólica y a los insti-tutos seculares en la variedad de sus fun-ciones y de sus asociados; a la vida mision-era, en el sentido concreto de misión “ad gentes”.

This year marks the 54th Anniver-sary of the World Day of Prayer for Vocations. The is to publically fulfill the Lord's instruction to, "Pray to the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into his harvest" (Mt 9:38; Lk 10:2). As a climax to a prayer that is con-tinually offered throughout the Church, it affirms the primacy of faith and grace in all that concerns vocations to the priesthood and to the consecrated life. While appreci-ating all vocations, the Church con-centrates its attention this day on vocations to the ordained ministries (priesthood and diaconate), to the religious life in all its forms (male and female, contemplative and ap-ostolic), to societies of apostolic life, to secular institutes in their diversity of services and membership, and to the missionary life, in the particular sense of mission "ad gentes".

Now, on this 54th World Day of Prayer for Vocations, I would like to reflect on the missionary dimension of our Christian calling. Those who drawn by God’s voice and determined to follow Jesus soon discover within themselves an irrepressible desire to bring the Good News to their brothers and sisters through proclamation and the service of charity. All Christians are called to be missionaries of the Gospel! As disciples, we do not receive the gift of God’s love for our personal consolation, nor are we called to promote ourselves, or a business concern. We are simply men and women touched and transformed by the joy of God’s love, who cannot keep this experience just to ourselves. For “the Gospel joy which enlivens the community of disciples is a missionary joy (Evangelii Gaudium, 21). Ahora, con ocasión de la 54 Jornada Mundial de Oración por las Vocaciones, quisiera centrarme en la dimensión misionera de la llamada cristi-ana. Quien se deja atraer por la voz de Dios y se pone en camino para seguir a Jesús, descubre enseguida, dentro de él, un deseo incontenible de llevar la Buena Noticia a los hermanos, a través de la evangelización y el servicio movido por la caridad. Todos los cristianos han sido consti-tuidos misioneros del Evangelio. El discípulo, en efecto, no recibe el don del amor de Dios como un consuelo privado, y no está llamado a anun-ciarse a sí mismo, ni a velar los intereses de un negocio; simplemente ha sido tocado y trasformado por la alegría de sentirse amado por Dios y no puede guardar esta experiencia solo para sí: «La alegrí del Evangelio que llena la vida de la comunidad de los discíulos es una alegrí mision-era» (Exht. Ap. Evangelium gaudium, 21).

Discernment — Dicernimiento

En Latin, la palabra para discernimiento es discernere, que significa separar o distinguir. En este Domingo del Buen Pastor escucha la voz del Buen Pastor y trata de discernir cómo el Señor está llamando a cada uno de ustedes para servir. Discernir la voluntad de Dios implica orar y escuchar en silencio con el Señor. En la oración, tenemos que aprender a discernir la voz del Señor de las voces del mundo. Estos son algunos consejos de discernimiento espiritual que permiten que Cristo se nos revele a nosotros:

Paciencia. ¡El amor es paciente! Perdón. Perdona a los demás y a ti mismo. Sabiduría. Ora por oportunidades y la sabiduría para escogerlas. Humildad. Se humilde; ora constantemente por los demás. Paz. Ora por la paz para librarte de la ansiedad o el nerviosismo. Caridad. Da a alguien que es menos afortunado que tu, Cristo se revela a los ojos de aquellos que están necesitados. Confíanza. Confia en la gracia de Dios y confia en su majestad. Entrega. Entrégate como siervos, dispuestos a ser sus manos y sus pies Leer. Lee la Sagrada Escritura. Lee acerca de la Tradición Sagrada. Pray.

Dios bueno y misericordioso, que nos hablas y nos nu-tres a través de la vida de esta comunidad de fe en la Pa-rroquia Our Lady of LaSalette. In Latin, the word for discernment is discernere, which means to separate or to distinguish. On this Good Shepherd Sunday listen to the voice of the Good Shepherd and try to discern how the Lord is calling each of you to serve. Discerning God’s will entails praying and listening in silence with the Lord. In prayer, we must learn to discern the voice of the Lord from the voices of the world. These are a few spiritual discernment tips which allow Christ to reveal himself to us:

Patience. Love is patient! Forgiveness. Forgive others and yourself. Wisdom. Pray for opportunities and the wis-dom to choose them. Humility. Humble yourself; pray constantly for others. Peace. Pray for peace to rid any anxiety or nervousness. Charity. Give to anyone who is less fortunate; Christ reveals himself in the eyes of those in need. Trust. Trust in God’s grace and trust in his majesty. Surrender. Surrender yourself as servants, willing to be his hands and feet. Read. Read Sacred Scripture. Read about Sa-cred Tradition. Pray.

Good and gracious God, you speak to us and nour-ish us through the life of this church community at Our Lady of LaSalette Parish. In the name of Jesus, we ask you to continue to shower us with your Spirit so that men and women among us, young and old, will respond to your call to service in the church. We pray especially, in our day, for those who hear your invitation to be a priest, deacon, religious sister, or religious brother. May those who are opening their hearts and minds to your call be encouraged and strengthened through our enthusiasm in your service. Through Christ, our Lord and Good Shepherd. Amen.

Trinity Dome Project Special Collection next weekend. This second collection is a one-time collection prescribed by the bishops of the United States to top the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC with a Trinity Dome. This dome will be adorned in mosaic according to the original iconographic scheme of the church and will depict the Most Holy Trinity, the Blessed Virgin Mary as the Immaculate Conception, and a procession of saints who have an association with the United States and the National Shrine. Please be generous! Colecta Especial para la Cúpula Trinidad el próximo fin de semana. We enter life to the full through Christ. Fourth Sunday of Easter Week of May 7, 2017 Listen to the Word (1 Peter 2:20b — 25) As you hear the words of Peter in this reading, what line or phrase strikes you most powerfully? Look into your life Question for children: How is Jesus your example when others don’t like you? Question for youth: Sheep know their shepherd and follow his voice. How hard is it for you to recognize the voice of God in your own life? Who has helped you hear God’s voice? Question for adults: In what specific ways is Christ an example which you follow when dealing with others, especially with the ones against whom you hold a grudge or those who dislike you? Activities for the week Take these activities to further reflect:

Have family members reflect on the following question: How does your family take care of you and help you grow? On the same sheet of paper list all the things your family does for you. Talk about how the love of family reminds us of God’s care and love for us.

Choose a picture of Jesus to hang in your home. Have a special blessing when you hang the picture. Pray Psalm 22

together.

As a family, identify some of the voices that try to drown out Jesus’ voice in today’s culture. Discuss how these voices can lead us astray.

Who are the ones in need in your family, extended family, neighborhood, or community, for whom you can be a shep-herd? In imitation of Jesus the Good Shepherd, help meet these needs in a caring way.

Ve tu vida Pregunta para los niños: ¿Cómo es Jesús tu ejemplo cuando no les caes bien a los demás? Pregunta para los jóvenes: Las ovejas conocen a su pastor y si-guen su voz. ¿Qué tan difícil es para ti reconocer la voz de Dios en tu propia vida? ¿Quién te ha ayudado a escuchar la voz de Dios? Pregunta para los adultos: ¿De que manera sigue el ejemplo de Cristo cuando trata con los demás, especialmente a los que le guar-da rencor o les desagrada? Actividades para la semana Tomen estas actividades para reflexionar mas:

Hagan que los miembros de la familia reflexionen sobre la si-guiente pregunta: ¿Cómo tu familia te cuida y te ayuda a cre-cer? Each year the Eucharistic Congress brings together Catholics from across the Archdiocese and the country to celebrate the visible, living presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. Archbishop Gregory and Bishop Zarama, ask that you join them for this year’s Eucharistic Con-gress at the Georgia International Convention Center, June 16 and 17. The theme of the 2017 Eucharistic Congress comes from the Book of Joshua 24:15, “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.” Let’s welcome the Lord into our hearts and let’s allow him to transform us so we can become his hands and feet to go out into the world to serve our brothers and sisters in Christ. As we day every year, our parish will offer transporta-tion, the cost for transportation and a t-shirt will be $20.00.
