Planting:Planting shall be carried out in accordance with BS4428:1989 General LandscapeOperations.Plant material shall be provided in accordance with BS3936 Part 1:1992 Nursery StockSpecification For Trees and Shrubs Deciduous stock to be planted from 1st November1st March. Allow for earth to new bank to settle before planting. Do not plant if groundis water logged or frozen.Clear all weeds and treat with suitable herbicide prior to planting. Care to be takenwith clearance and any herbicide use to area adjacent to existing hedges.Prevent roots from drying out prior to planting. Avoid planting in very dry, windyconditions to avoid root dessication.
Water in new transplants immediately after planting and continue to water as necessarythrough the first two growing seasons, during dry spells, to ensure good establishment.
Protect from damage by rabbits with sprial guard and cane. Avoid damage by deer withplastic tube tree guard and stake, min. 1.2m high,
All feathered trees to have single low timber stake (placed at angle) with rubber buckletree tie and spacer. Check regularly during establishment 18mths to 3 years and adjustas required. Remove stake and tie once established.
Weed Control shall be carried out in accordance with BS4428:1989 General LandscapeOperations and SANGS Management Plan
Regularly inspect newly planted areas and remove weeds until new plants are wellestablished (2-3 growing seasons).
All hedges shall be allowed to grow on to and thereafter be maintained at a minimumheight of 1.8 metres. Management of the hedge shall be carried out through routinecutting of alternative sides of the hedge at a maximum biennial cut frequency unlessannual cutting is necessary in order to maintain clearnaces to highwasy/drives. Cuttingto be carried out in October to February to avoid bird nesting season.
Following planting establishment checks will be undertaken annually duringAugust/September for a period of 5 years, and any plants found to be dead, dying ordiseased shall be removed and replaced as per the above specification during thefollowing planting season.
