HUMILITY Humility is a virtue we don’t see much in our mes. It seems that bragging, swaggering, and arrogance dominate our fashion for everything and our Internet conversa ons. Who hasn’t been irritated by the “trolls” who try (usually with bad grammar and poor spelling) to start an online fight with those whose opinions do not align with theirs? Our stores, catalogs, and online shopping sites are full of useless items geared in use and price to the very rich, as ordinary, useful things seem to fade off the sales scene. As the rich get richer, the poor get poorer and the middle class is fading away. What is the an dote to this? Humility is a good place to start. Devo on to God is worth more than riches. “The father of orphans and the defender of widows is God in his holy dwelling. TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION The readings today center on mindfulness, awareness of where we stand in God’s plan. The mountain of Sinai carries a message of the majes-ty and distance of God, while Jesus’ presence as host of the banquet speaks of in macy and mystery. September’s shadow calls us all to mind-fulness as we prepare to return to life outside of summer. The Chris an life holds these two places of knowledge of God in careful balance. Even in the accounts of the Passion we see the table of the upper room in bal-ance with the Mount of Olives. Altar means “high place,” yet it is also a table. The former liturgy of the La n Rite began with the priest bowing at the foot of the altar’s three steps, chan ng Introibo ad al-tare Dei, or “I will go to the altar of God,” followed by the altar servers’ response, “The God who gives joy to my youth.” Many parishioners can recall and recite this scene by heart. As with so many things in litur-gy, there are layers of meaning in our worship. The altar table evokes memories of the high places once reserved for encounter with the holy, and the in macy of the table where hospitality draws us to share food and drink. —James Field, Copyright © J. Al principio del mes de sep embre dos naciones toman la fiesta de su nacimiento para recordarla bajo el tulo de la Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre en Cuba y de Nuestra Señora de Coromoto en Venezuela. La Virgen del Cobre fue descubierta en el siglo XVI por dos indígenas y un niño africano llamados los tres Juanes, cuando estos fueron al mar en busca de sal. Después de una fuerte tempestad ellos encontraron flotan-do sobre las olas una pequeña imagen de María con el Niño Dios en bra-zos. La imagen flotaba sobre una tabla que decía yo soy la Virgen de la Caridad. Milagrosamente la imagen estaba seca. También en el siglo XVI la Virgen se le apareció al cacique de los indígenas Coromoto en Venezuela. Estos se resis an a la evangelización y ella se apareció sobre las aguas invitándolos al bau zo cris ano. Greetings from All Saints Early Childhood Center! We are located in the Historic Heights at All Saints Catholic Community. Our part-time ECC will welcome friends - two to four years old - on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 am to 11:30 am or 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. All Saints Early Childhood Center provides a high quality, age-appropriate environment rich with Catholic values and traditions where all children can develop through hands-on experience and purposeful play. We foster the development of the whole child by encouraging all children to grow cognitively, creatively, emotionally, physically, spiritually and socially in a nurturing, respectful and safe environment. Looking to make a difference? Be a difference maker with the All Saints Early Childhood Center team! Our team will work Tuesday-Thursday and occasional ECC/parish events. Interested applicants must be at least 18 years of age, be able to clear background check and meet the following requirements: EDUCATION Minimum: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Preferred: Child Development Associate Credential; Associate or Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education or Human Development & Family Studies. EXPERIENCE Minimum: A responsible, professional who has a love for children and true desire to grow as an early childhood educator. Preferred: 1 year in a licensed child care center, mother’s day out program, lab school or elementary classroom. CERTIFICATION CPR/First Aid (Assistance available to obtain) Safe Environment Training “Safe Haven” (Assistance available to obtain). JOB DUTIES Your amazing job duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Establish and maintain a safe, healthy, positive and supportive age-appropriate learning environment. Plan and implement activities that meet the physical, intellectual, emotional and social needs of all children. Interact with the friends to support play, exploration and learning. Observe children and make notes of progress and development. Ensuring that all children are supervised at all times. Building a trusting relationship with each friend and family. Attend staff meetings, conferences and professional growth opportunities. Perform nominal cleaning responsibilities immediately. Perform major cleaning during times when children are not present.

PILGRIMAGE TO HOLY LAND Next year Msgr. Adam McClosky will lead a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. The 11 day pilgrimage will visit places where Our Lord lived, suffered and died for our salva on. Mass will be celebrated at the sacred sites. The dates are March 2 - 12, 2020. If you are interested in going on this trip, brochures with complete informa on are available in the parish office. The pilgrimage is arranged and directed by Inspira onal Tours, a local company. Spaces are limited.
