SEVEN FULL-SIZE SEATS WITH INTELLIGENT SEAT FOLDThe All-New Discovery First Edition features three rows of seats with Intelligent Seat Fold as standard allowing you to configure the second and third row seating using switches located in the cargo space or on the main Touchscreen. Furthermore, you can remotely configure the seats when you’re not in your vehicle, via an app on your smartphone. See page 12 for details.

DESIGN

EXTERIORThe vehicle’s exterior design is a re-imagining of Land Rover for the next generation. The All-New Discovery First Edition is beautifully proportioned for a full-size SUV, with sleek, wrap-around headlights and tail lights combining with short front and rear overhangs to reduce visual length.

A pronounced windshield angle, rising belt line and elegant, smoothly contoured shape, result in a streamlined and dynamic form which combines aerodynamic efficiency with exceptional space. The body-coloured C-pillar, stepped roof and asymmetric element on the rear license plate panel all refer to the rich lineage of previous Land Rover model designs.

Clean flush elements, a dynamic rising waistline and wrap-around lights convey a strong sense of modernity. Beautifully designed LED lights are standard on All-New Discovery First Edition and have been developed to wrap-around the side of the vehicle to enable the indicators to be more visible.

Sophisticated, the All-New Discovery First Edition embodies the most compelling contemporary British design and is available in three premium metallic exterior colours: Namib Orange, Silicon Silver and Farallon Black. Please see page 21 for available exterior colours.

FIRST EDITION EXTERIOR DESIGN DETAILSThis beautifully realized vehicle enjoys a host of striking features. With Namib Orange vehicles, Gloss Black 21" alloy wheels are standard. The three premium metallic exterior colours available are complemented by the Black grille, fender vents and hood and tailgate script.

Bespoke First Edition badging is discreetly positioned on the B-pillar when you open the driver or passenger door and is exclusive to this vehicle. It adds a distinct and unique touch that reminds you of its originality whenever you step in and out of your All-New Discovery First Edition. With Namib Orange exterior paint, the addition of a Black contrast roof adds further emphasis to the undoubted design credentials of the All-New Discovery First Edition.

FIRST EDITION INTERIOR DESIGN DETAILSAn eye for the detail. The finest materials. These are the qualities that our designers have carefully considered to help shape the All-New Discovery First Edition interior. The interior is appointed in the most exquisite Windsor leather and is available in two striking colourways: Ebony/Ebony interior with Ebony Windsor leather seats with Nimbus piping and stitching or Vintage Tan/Ebony interior with Vintage Tan Windsor leather seats with Nimbus piping and stitching*. Throughout the cabin, there are several design touches that will delight the eye. For instance, the vertical finishers are of Brushed Aluminum which have been swept in three ways for a premium finish.

Exclusive to the All-New Discovery First Edition, a Cartography Aluminum finisher has been fashioned to map the journey of Land Rover LR4, beautifully displayed on the doors and across the instrument mid-section. Born of the vehicle’s undoubted spirit and lineage, this superbly crafted and unique feature covers many points across the UK where the vehicle was designed and built including Land Rover Design headquarters at Gaydon, world-class manufacturing facilities at Solihull and the capital of British design – London.

The centre console also features an etched bespoke ‘First Edition’ badge, adding the perfect finishing touch to the interior.

SEVEN FULL-SIZE SEATSThe All-New Discovery First Edition standard seven full-size seats truly exemplify comfort and versatility. Divided across three rows and readily deployable, the Discovery First Edition is very well appointed. The second row enjoys a 60:40 slide and power recline configuration, coupled with load-through capabilities. Stadium seating ensures everyone can see the road ahead in the greatest comfort, while the stepped roof allows for greater headroom in the second and third rows; such thoughtful use of space ensures everyone travels in comfort. There are a number of standard features including heated and cooled seats across the first and second row to add to your comfort and enjoyment.

REMOTE INTELLIGENT SEAT FOLDOn the All-New Discovery First Edition, there’s a choice of ways you can easily deploy the seats with our Remote Intelligent Seat Fold: from the Touchscreen*, switches located in the cargo area or via our innovative app from your smartphone. Imagine standing in a grocery line, using your smartphone app to reconfigure the seats in your Discovery to accommodate your shopping bags plus your kids. Ready for you when you return to your vehicle with the press of a few buttons.

The powered seat folding mechanism uses an intelligent control system which ensures the seats, including the headrests, fold away seamlessly and conveniently. The system understands when seats are occupied or have heavy items on them and, when folding, automatically adjusts their position to prevent interference.

DRIVING TECHNOLOGY

PERMANENT 4 WHEEL DRIVE (4WD) SYSTEMSThe All-New Discovery First Edition features an intelligent, permanent Land Rover 4 Wheel Drive (4WD) system to deliver unrivalled, all-weather and all-surface capability. The standard two-speed transfer case features a low range gear set which can prove invaluable in challenging driving conditions. The heart of this system is the electronic centre differential that offers a 50:50 torque split between front and rear axles with the ability to pre-emptively lock the axles before slip commences.

TERRAIN RESPONSE® 2With over 65 years of all-terrain expertise, this vehicle has Land Rover capability at its heart. Innovative Terrain Response® was first implemented on Land Rover LR3 and now our unique, upgraded Terrain Response® 2 system is introduced to the All-New Discovery.

This enhanced system helps the driver to optimize the vehicle’s engine, transmission, centre differential and chassis systems to match the demands of the terrain, by selecting one of the easily identifiable driving modes, including Rock Crawl Mode. Terrain Response® 2 monitors driving conditions, automatically selecting the most appropriate driving mode to achieve the best possible chassis and powertrain set up for the conditions*.

Even when it is not in Auto Mode, the system also provides the driver with additional input, such as advising when to select low range or the off-road ride height. This system is standard on the All-New Discovery First Edition.

ALL TERRAIN PROGRESS CONTROLAll Terrain Progress Control (ATPC) is a standard system that helps drivers to set and maintain a steady speed in challenging conditions.

Operating like a cruise control system, it functions at very low speeds between 2km/h and 30km/h, helping the driver to maintain full concentration on steering and finding a path through obstacles.

Developed by Land Rover all-terrain specialists, the system works seamlessly alongside the Terrain Response® 2 and 4 Wheel Drive (4WD) traction and braking systems*.

Once ATPC is activated, the standard steering wheel +/- cruise control buttons are used to set the speed. Brake and accelerator pedals can still override the chosen settings, with gentle braking achieving a reduction in speed.

TOWING AIDSThe All-New Discovery First Edition takes towing capability to a new level, with a capacity of up to 3,720kg (8,200lbs) and a suite of features available to help make towing effortless and assured.

Optional tow equipment is available which is deployed using a convenient button in the cargo space compartment, or via the Touchscreen. The addition of Tow Hitch Assist* makes coupling a trailer to the vehicle much easier by helping you visualize the hitching process; it displays the predicted path of the vehicle tow ball towards the trailer coupler on the Touchscreen.

Vehicles fitted with tow equipment also feature Nose Load Measurement and Trailer Light Test systems. Nose Load Measurement can be operated via the Touchscreen and allows you to quickly and easily measure the nose load of your trailer, while Trailer Light Test is an industry-first feature that enables you to test your trailer lights without leaving your vehicle. The automatic system is used to pulse the lights in a sequence, and is triggered via the Touchscreen or a button in the cargo space compartment.

ENGINE PERFORMANCEThe torque and power curve below illustrates the distinctive qualities of the Si6 engine.

GAS ENGINESi6 340HPA Roots-type twin vortex supercharger is mounted in the ‘V’ between the two rows of cylinders for compact dimensions. Supercharging provides linear delivery of power and maximizes responsiveness. This results in performance matching much larger engines.

The V6 engine also features dual independent variable cam timing to vary inlet and exhaust valve operation, working alongside lightweight pistons with ultra-low friction piston rings, for increased performance. For added refinement there is a counter-rotating balancer shaft system.
