What makes Juddarnje soaps and skincare products different?We understand the importance of using natural products on your skin, so we developed a range of all natural soaps and skincare products specifically designed to nurture, sooth and protect. Our range of skin care products will leave your skin glowing with health and vitality.

All ingredients are selected for their benefit to the skin - moisturising, softening, hydrating and soothing - to create a pleasurable and nurturing bathing and skin care experience. Many of the ingredients are sourced from our own backyard – Native honey from our Australian Bush beehives, Aloe Vera Juice from our own plants, Lemon Myrtle Tea from the leaves of our own Lemon Myrtle Tree and we ferment our own Papaya Juice for inclusion in our products.

We use only the best ingredients to ensure your skin benefits from the natural power of essential oils, native botanicals, vegetable and plant oils. Whilst many other lotions, creams and soaps use 2 or 3 plant or vegetable oils as their base, we at Juddarnje want to incorporate the whole range of benefits found in these oils so we use a combination of six or seven oils in our soaps. In fact, our Baby Bottom Balm contains 8 plant and vegetable oils and our Gentle Baby Soap contains 11. That’s unique to say the least!

We pick blossoms from the native trees in season and use their nectar in our products. We also incorporate native flora and Australian Clays - the finest of the Australian Bush.

Bushmint & Cucumber SoapThe star ingredients of aromatic Bush Mint and cooling Cucumber make this soap a must for problematic and sensitive skins. Soothing and nurturing, it gently cleanses the skin of impurities by unclogging pores, removing excess oils and enlivening dull skin. With scents of mint, cucumber, frankincense and grapefruit it is fresh and energising. A lovely morning soap.

• Grapefruit Essential Oil is purifying and an excellent cleanser.

Golden Wattle SoapThis soap contains Nectar from the Australian Wattle (Acacia) Tree rich in antioxidants and Australian Native Honey to maintain hydration. The emollient rich Olive, Grapeseed and Macadamia Nut Oils soften the skin and form a protective barrier against external damage. This soap has an aromatic and fruity fragrance and is relaxing – just like the warm Australian sunshine.

Lillypilly SoapThis soap contains the Nectar from the Australia Lillypilly Tree to revitalise the appearance of the skin and promote even skin tone. Australian Red Clay draws impurities and replenishes and heals damaged skin. This vibrant soap is scented with top notes of Australian Eucalyptus Essential Oil. It is suitable for a wide range of skin problems and leaves the skin with a healthy glow.

Soap Free Cleansing Milk

If you like the idea of cleansing your face without soap, this cleanser is for you as it gently removes impurities from the skin. Castor and Rice Bran oils have been used to open pores and draw dirt and dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. Witchhazel and Cucumber Juice tone and tighten the skin. Our Story About Juddarnje Skin CareOur family – the Slockee Family - have always been keenly aware of the Australian Bush and environment. Our love of the land and attachment to the Australian Bush stems from being part of one of Australia’s indigenous tribes namely the Bundjalung tribe of Northern New South Wales. Living in harmony with ‘country’ for the First Australians required a knowledge of its nutritional and medicinal values and being traditional custodians meant being keenly aware of ‘the footprints’ they left as they foraged and harvested foods and medicines. Having spent his formative years with people who respected and loved the Australian Bush, Michael (a co-founder) knew bushtucker and botanicals could be used in various ways and I (Linda) wanted to draw on their unique benefits to create natural and safe skin care products instead of the synthetic and chemically based ones so readily available on the market. We set out to showcase what the Australian Indigenous people already knew - the environment will care for us but in using nature, we must respect it and tread gently with what we use.

Our journey started with a batch straight out of a book but slowly I started to experiment with different plant oils, essential oils and natural botanicals. Michael suggested we bring the benefits from the Australian Bush into our soaps, so we began experimenting with different native tree blossoms in season. We also knew the great benefits found in bushtuckerso we included puree e.g. Mullumbimby Plum and Finger Limes as well as the fruit of the Lillypilly Tree. Michael picked and sorted and brewed and I formulated recipes for them.


“Our kitchen became our workshop and the house became filled with soaps and their wonderful fragrances.” It’s incredible to think a solid bar of basic soap is created with oils water and lye (the soap process neutralises the lye so that there is NO lye in the finished product at all) - it’s an amazing process. From this soap ‘embryo’ we were only limited by our imagination or experimentation - there is so much in nature which can be used to sooth, moisture, tone, heal and nourish. However, soap is not a ‘mud pie’ and the ratios and quantities need to be balanced and are very important to the overall performance of the soap. It needs to do its job without drying or irritating the skin. Our soaps meet that criteria. As friends and family began to use our soaps they spoke about skin problems and concerns and so we looked at extending our range of soaps to include creams, lotions and balms. Our mission for our creams lotions and balms was simple,‘Keep it natural’. We believe we have met that brief and have something really good. Why choose ‘the way of nature’? Is this ideology perhaps something new – a modern day persuasion or current fad? Ancient Man had nothing other than nature to care for the body both internally and externally. There was no local pharmacy or dispensary at his fingertip. As far back as 4000 BCE, the Egyptians were using botanicals to treat a variety of skin conditions. Who hasn’t heard of Cleopatra indulging in milk and honey baths daily? Egyptians and other cultures used oils scented with cinnamon, frankincense, lemongrass, myrrh, rose and others to soften and moisturise skin and at other times to treat and relieve.

We are of the ground – ‘ashes to ashes dust to dust’ – our body is mostly composed of water, minerals and elements found in the ground. Plants trees and vegetables grow of the ground taking the minerals and trace elements to produce food containing vitamins and minerals for our bodily nourishment. Nourishment can also be taken through the skin – the largest organ of our body. Those things we put on our skin are absorbed into the cells and fluids of our body.


Nature is a storehouse of nutrients, moisturisers, surfactants and humectants which sooth, soften, repair, nourish and cleanse. There are oils which mimic the skin’s natural sebum. Oils that are able to penetrate all three layers of the dermis. Botanicals that increase collagen and connective tissues of the skin thereby improving elasticity. Botanicals full of vitamins and minerals that nourish and repair the skin. Clays which increase blood circulation, open skin pores to facilitate cleansing, tighten and tone the skin, gently exfoliate and slough off dead skin cells. Essential oils that purify and clarify, calm and sooth, and protect and inhibit bacterium growth on the skin. Botanical extracts that reduce dryness and redness and promote younger more healthy looking skin. All of the above, found in Nature, can and have been used for centuries either on their own or in a soap or cleanser or lotion or balm or cream to lovingly care for the skin.

Choosing ‘the way of nature’ is the best choice for your skin. The results will speak for themselves. “The proof of the pudding is in the eating”. But we need to be careful in our use of any product on our skin. Read the labels – there are many chemicals even found in products claiming to be all natural e.g. sodium lauryl sulfates (SLS or SLES) propylene glycols,or parabens. None of those chemicals or nasties are used in our products. Nature nourishes of itself.
