AAHD 10:45am Bavarian Chef Ride (C)

The Bavarian Chef in Fredericksburg brings traditional German food to the historic railroad station in historic Fredericksburg, VA. Its cuisine is distinctively German and all the food is prepared onsite using Thalwitz recipes. Make sure you try the crab stuffed Portobello dressed in thick, melted Muenster, or the Bavarian sausage (veal, pork and beef) sampler accompanied by sweetened spicy mustard. The creamy red pepper soup chockfull of lump crab meat is delicious. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the Rheinischer sauerbraten which is a tender, marinated, roasted beef drenched in a heavenly sweet-and-sour raisin sauce that complements the tender meat. And if you are a traditionalist, try the Jager schnitzel which are large, thin medallions of veal smothered in a rich sauce of fresh cream, mushroom and bacon . Hmmmmm. All American Harley-Davidson 11:30am Sunshine Ride

I would like to share with you an email from the wife of one of our members and take a moment to reflect on how much granting her favor would mean to all of us. From: J Whittington Sent: Tuesday, April 18, 2017 8:19 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Mike Whittington, AA Hog Member Hello Smurf. This is Jeanne Whittington, wife of Mike Whittington, Sr., an All American Chapter Member. I wanted to ask a favor. Mike is seriously ill with Head and Neck cancer and is literally fighting for his life in battling this nasty cancer. He's up and around for now but this fight is very real. My favor is this. I wonder if a couple of the guys from our group might be able to surprise him by rolling by the house to make a little bit of a fuss over Mike? He would light up like a Christmas tree!! Let me know and we can come up with a day and time together. So far, he has no treatments on the weekend. Thank you so very much, Jeanne I have spoken to Jeanne and have arranged a ride that will depart All American Harley-Davidson at 12:00 noon on Saturday 29, April, 2017. We can do better than a couple of guys, I’d like to see 50 Harley’s rumble down their street. The ride is a short 10 miles to their Mechanicsville home. Please join me and the dealership in granting this wish in a very big way and bring some cheer to a member who is struggling to live and ride again. Mac McDonald, Director

CPFCU/WaWa 7:15am Jerry Kirby’s Weekend Memorial Ride to Franklin, West Virginia (C)

Time of Pre-Ride Brief (PRB) and Departure (KSU): 1St departure Cedar Point Federal Credit Union: PRB @ 7:15 a.m., and KSU @ 7:30 a.m. 2nd departure will be from Sheetz in Dahlgren: PRB @ 8:00 a.m. and KSU @ 8:20 a.m. Destination: Thorn Spring Park 42 All Star Drive Franklin, WV 26807 www.pendletoncounty.net/LZpages/page-thorn.htm Ride Description: A Memorial Ride for our brother Jerry Kirby. Jerry tried to plan an annual ride to Franklin West Virginia every year to the world famous “Moe Fatz Ice Cream Parlor”, and all who went had a great time. From Jerry’s ride notes, the ride normally takes about a 5-hour ride to Thorn Spring Park and Campground (42 All Star Dr., Franklin, WV 26807). The Moe Fatz Ice Cream visit will be either Friday evening after we get there or we can go on Saturday, or maybe even go both days… I’m sure Jerry would like that option. We will have multiple stops along the way including a possible Harley stop in…Winchester, VA. We will also have a lunch stop at Jerry’s favorite park Vernon W. W elton Park in Petersburg, WV 26847 so bring a lunch for this stop. From there we will make our way to Franklin. Now for the camping… There is a Helping Hands Benefit that has the park reserved for the weekend, with many festivities. Last year there was music, food and other entertainment as well as a local poker run on Saturday along with other festivities. We have already reserved three cabins; one accommodates 16+ and the other two accommodate 8 each, the cost per person is based on the total number of folks divided across the price of the cabins (last year they were $20 per person). These cabins are rustic and resemble what you might have stayed in during summer camp. The cabins do have facilities but it is a campground and hence has no maid service of any form, with that said don’t forget to bring your shower items, I.e. toiletries, towel, shower shoes, etc. There is also a bathhouse if needed or desired. Tent camping is also permitted at a cost of $7.00 per night and includes all the festivities for the day.

At the end of the day we will relax as Jerry would say, by… “Sit-in’ around a camp fire sharing good times…and certainly a few good stories and laughs…” If you would like to participate in this ride please contact Ed Wilbur @ 240-249-6484 or email to [email protected] by April 15th to reserve a spot in a cabin. Spots in the cabins are first come. The ride ends upon arrival at Thorn Spring Campground and other local rides will determined later. The return trip will depart Sunday morning, time TBD… Please stay tuned for future updates…

Calvert Marine Museum 4:00pm 15th Anniversary Photo RC Mac McDonald

Beth and I have been scrambling to set up the photo at the Calvert Museum Lighthouse. The issue was that the lighthouse is part of the museum and in order to gain access to the lighthouse we would have to pay the $9.00 per person admission fee. Well Beth worked out an arrangement with the museum to do the picture after they close at 5:00 pm without paying admission. Great job Beth!! So, I will lead a ride from the dealership to the Calvert Museum Lighthouse leaving at 4:00 pm. After the photo we can go find some ice cream. If you are unable to ride or just want to meet at the Museum, we will plan to take the photo at 5:00 pm sharp. Please make plans to join Chapter members for our 15th anniversary celebration photo. 5/235 Split, WaWa PA Grand Canyon Fall Foilage Ride (C)

Often referred to as the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania and the Pine Creek Gorge, the PA Canyon begins just south of Ansonia, PA and stretches for over 45 miles with depths of nearly 1500 feet. Its dynamic topography creates many scenic wonders, including steep canyon walls and waterfalls. Hopefully we will catch the fall foliage at the peak of their colors. We will take excursions to Mt Jewet in McKean County to walk the Kinzua Bridge Skywalk. Those brave enough can take a stroll on the skywalk on the remaining support structure towering 301’ above the river below, and look through a glass floor at the end. Bring a camera. For those riders who have a sore butt, and want to relax, there is a sunset train ride available aboard the Tioga Central Railroad. This is a two-hour round trip extended excursion where you can enjoy the Pennsylvania countryside, and if so inclined, enjoy a seasonal dinner at tables for four in one of the dining cars. The cost for the train ride is only $25, and the dinner ride is $50. If Elk watching interests you, Benzette is home of the largest wild elk herd in the Northeast. The Elk Country Visitor Center is a premier elk viewing location. Some riders may want to take a foray into the wine country in New York State and visit Letchworth State Park, or ride historic PA Route 6 and so much more. We will leave on Friday at 0700 and stay at the Penn Wells Lodge in Wellsboro Pa, returning on Monday. Call and book a room at the Penn Wells Lodge for Friday and Saturday, check our Sunday 570-724-3463.
