Poseidon the SEA LORD

The first photo is the Mount Olympus, in the myth, there has mentioned that Poseidon had a huge

mansion on Mount Olympus, and he only went there when he need to attend the meeting of 12

Olympic Gods. This photo I want to show that Poseidon is complaining about going to the council of

gods and he cannot stay underwater in his own perfect palace. He wants to end the meeting very

quickly and go back home underwater.

The second picture is his ‘perfect’ palace underwater, that’s when he returned to home. He likes to live

underwater rather than stay on the lands. Another reason for he likes to live underwater in the palace

is his main wife, and the only wife who lives underwater with him.

The third image is his temple built by the Greeks that living on the coast or near the sea. Poseidon is

very powerful and likes to rule the cities of mortals. When he grows angry, the sea will be storming,

lightning and thunder will appear on the seashore. So the citizens must build temples to honor him

and make him happy.

The fourth photograph is Poseidon’s main wife, Amphitrite, the only wife who lives underwater in the

palace with Poseidon. She is not jealous like Hera to Zeus, Amphitrite doesn’t care about her husband

had other wives. That’s the reason why Poseidon loves her the most. In the Greek myth, Poseidon first

fell in love with Amphitrite’ sister, but when he heard that there was a telling said Amphitrite can give

birth to a very strong child for Poseidon, so he changed and fell in love with Amphitrite, a dolphin

helped Poseidon to marry his wife, that’s why the picture has his wife and the dolphins.

The fifth picture shows the expression of when Athena and Poseidon had a conflict of who was going

to rule and protect a city near the seashore. At first the citizens in the city near the coastal line didn’t

want to take the risk to anger the mighty Poseidon, Poseidon finally decided to give the city to Athena.

Although Poseidon likes to make big waves on the sea, he is good to his niece.

The sixth image is Poseidon’s weapon, called the trident. It is like his symbol. Whenever he appeared on the seashore, he is carrying this with him. Poseidon likes to use it very much.
