About Alice Bailey...

Alice Bailey is a freelance bookkeeper based in Aviemore in the Scottish Highlands. Alice uses her accounting expertise to manage bookkeeping for her main client, Peter Syme, who runs Splash White Water Rafting LLP in Highland Perthshire.

Alice does most of her work from home, despite Peter Symes being based in Perthshire, an hour from Splash’s base. Peter also runs a paintballing business and regularly trades internationally in multiple currencies such as Moroccan Dirham and Euros.

Alice currently manages the accounts of 3 businesses via her Liquid Client Manager online accounting package.

Liquid’s web-based application allows Alice to work from the comfort of her own home. Alice uses Liquid’s award-winning, free Client Manager software to manage the accounts of three Scotland-based companies; Splash White Water Rafting LLP, Perthshire Paintball and Liquid Life Events Ltd, which operates a rafting company in Morocco.

Alice took advantage of Liquid’s ability to import data from Sage, which took the hassle out of switching to the online accounting package.

Another reason behind my switch to Liquid was because of the phenomenal cost savings when compared to a package such as Sage. With free back-ups, upgrades and support all included, I save a large sum of money each month by using Liquid’s online software. Also the fact that I can build my clients’ package for them means that they’re not paying for what they won’t use, whereas with Sage, the costs are high and you’re paying for applications that your business doesn’t need.

Having previously used Sage, I needed an accounting package that could import my existing Sage data into the new system. All I had to do was send Liquid the relevant files and they took care of it all for me, meaning that I could pick-up where I left off with minimal fuss.

By having my data imported from Sage, I kept the same customer and purchase records that I was using previously. This saved me entering all of these details manually on the new system. Also, as the existing nominal codes structure was transferred over from Sage, I could carry on from the same point with the correct sales and purchase codes in place.

The main benefit of this software is that it allows me to manage the accounts of all of my clients via the same user account. It offers great functionality for managing the accounts of multiple companies.

As with any new software, Liquid took me a few days to get used to, but now I’m using it regularly, I find it very easy-to-use and I use the comprehensive set of free Liquid help guides available within the help section of software package as well as via the Liquid website Help Centre.

Budgeting for my clients is a key part of my role as a bookkeeper, and Liquid provides this in a very detailed yet easy-to-use format. Liquid’s extensive range of functionality and additional modules means that I can manage any aspect of my client’s accounts, simply and easily.

In terms of the service offered by the Liquid team, I can’t speak highly enough of the friendly and helpful phone support that I receive whenever I ring Liquid for help.

Now I use Liquid everyday to manage my clients’ accounts, all from the comfort of my own home. Being online, there is no requirement to be in the same room as a client, as we can easily liaise whilst viewing exactly the same figures but on separate computers in separate locations.”
