PROJECTS

FURAP Project in title “Design and Implementation of Photovoltaic Pumping

System using Centrifugal Pump and Motor for Rural Area in Oman”,

The Research Council of Oman, Oman 2014.

Total Amount: US$ 5,700.

Duty: Principle investigator

Research Grant Agreement No. FURAP/C2/HK/ENGEE

Statues: completed

Principle investigator in project funded by The Research Council of Oman,

entitle of “Design and Implementation of Photovoltaic Pumping System using

Centrifugal Pump and Motor for Rural Area in Oman” [start: 1 December 2014,

end: 30 August 2015].

For two university semesters I have worked on this project to find results proving

the importance of Photovoltaic (PV) systems for irrigation and me and my team

have found important results. Comparing our results to other research data and

concluding that Oman shows promising future for the use and implementation of

PV cells for various applications and technologies. I have dealt with the use of

electrical/electronic equipment, systems that require feedback, different processes

to collect data and present it in a scientific way and other small skills for putting

elements of the system together.

Final year project for bachelor’s degree in Sohar university, under the title of

“Comparison Study of Photovoltaic Pumping/Diesel Pumping Systems for Rural

Areas in Oman “[start: 1 September 2015, end: June 2016].

For two university semesters I have worked with my team on this project to find

data that proves me and my team's expectations and we have indeed found great

results that further prove the promising future for PV systems use in Sohar, Oman.

My mentor/Supervisor for this project was Dr. Hussein A Kazem and together

with the team we have worked on gaining the most and giving back as well;

therefore, we focus on literature review the most and we were capable on

perfecting the physical application as well (also because of our past experience

with such projects). Designing a diesel generator pumping system and comparing

its results to the PV pumping system as well as, improving the efficiency of the PV

system and adding a tracking system to it was an important aspect of the project.

Following a scientific method, we were capable of finishing the project on time,

producing research papers, participating in conferences and university events.

COMPANY TRAINING HISTORY

One month training in MAJAN ELECTRICITY Company, Sohar. 2012

For One month I have trained in the maintenance department of MAJAN ELECTRICITY

COMPANY, specifically in the preventing maintenance, where I have learned about the

pressure of the maintenance tasks and how to deal safely with substation environments,

as well as learning more about electricity distribution systems.

One month training in MAJAN ELECTRICITY Company, Sohar. 2014

For a full month I have trained in the maintenance department of MAJA ELECTRICITY

COMPANY, specifically in the Preventing Maintenance. I have further discovered

information on dealing with electrical substations and how to keep myself safe, beside

general knowledge of electrical substations maintenance.

Two months training in SOHAR ALUMINUM Company, Sohar. 2014

For two months I have trained in the Reduction department of SOHAR ALUMINUM

Company, specifically in the PTA maintenance. I gained general knowledge on how

aluminium factories work and a specific knowledge on the importance of the Pot

Tending Assembly (PTA) machine and how employees perform preventing maintenance.

Some information about the training I cannot mention due to the company requiring

trainees to be discrete about their nature of work and how they do things. I must mention

that the most important element to learn is SAFETY, as I learned different ways to keep

myself safe in the workplace and still be functioning; also I learned how to be a part of a

team by attending team meetings.

One Month Training in Sohar University Renewable Energy Lab in Faculty of

Engineering. I have gained more experience dealing with various renewable

Energy equipment, and more experience on starting an engineering project.

Further experience in utilizing surrounding environment to come up with accurate

specific and accurate results.
