OverviewThese Application Notes describe the steps required to integrate the Algo 8028 SIP Doorphone with CUCM. The 8028 SIP Doorphone provides hands-free intercom capability and entrance security with door unlock control. It is a SIP compliant device that registers with CUCM. The 8028 Doorphone includes a Control Unit and Door Station.

When fully set up, a visitor can press the red Call Button on the Door Station to ring a specified telephone. The called party can then answer the call to communicate with the Door Station. Using DTMF tones, the called party can press a digit on the phone keypad to activate the door control relay to open the door. Alternatively, a telephone can also originate a call to the Door Station, which would be automatically answered. The 8028 Doorphone is configured via a web interface.

Configuration SummaryFollow these five steps to configure the 8028 on the CUCM platform:

1. Decide which existing phone(s) and extension(s) you want to ring when called from the 8028 Doorphone. We’ll call these the “Target Phones” and the “Target Extensions” (e.g. Security Office Phone Ext. 3052). Then start up CUCM.

2. Create a new SIP Extension for use by the 8028 (“8028 Extension”), then create a new SIP Phone and User and associate it with this new extension.

3. Create a Hunt Group that the 8028 will call when the 8028’s red Call Button is pressed. Add the phones and extensions you identified in Step 1 above. Configure the Hunt Group to ring continuously. Since you probably don’t want Doorphone calls to go to voicemail, ensure that the Hunt Group does not forward to voicemail.

4. Configure the 8028 in the Algo Web Control Panel.

5. Test and verify proper Doorphone operation.

Add New User/ExtensionIf Active Directory (LDAP) is integrated to CUCM then it is not possible to create or modify a User in CUCM. Skip this section and go to section “Add New Phone”.

Set up and Configure the Hunt GroupThe next step is to create a Hunt Group so that when the 8028’s Call Button in pressed, one or more target phones and extensions are rung.

Creating a Hunt Group also helps avoid the issue where a particular extension may have voicemail. Instead, the Hunt Group can just ring the extensions continuously (or until a set time) with no voicemail.

To do this:

1. Open CUCM

2. Go to Cisco Unified CM Administra-tion

3. Select Call Routing -> Route/Hunt > Line Group and create a new Line Group as below

For the Distribution Algorithm choose “Broadcast” if you want all the extensions members of the current Line Group to ring in same time when the 8028 button is pressed. Extension 1501, 1502, 1503 and 1504 are all members of “8028LineGroup” Line Group.

4. Then click Save

5. Then go to Call Routing -> Route/Hunt > Hunt List and create a new Hunt List as below.

7. Make sure that the checkbox next to “Enable this Hunt List” is chekced.

8. Click Save.

9. Then go to Call Routing -> Route/Hunt > Hunt Pilot and create a new Hunt Pilot as below.

10. Add the 8028HuntGroup to the Hunt pilot

11. Then click Save.

12. Now all the phones member of the hunt group will ring if the extension 1508 is dialled from a phone that is not part of the hunt group.

13. Enter the Hunt pilot extension (1508) in the Algo 8028 Dialing Extension field
