    USA Gymnastics is committed to promoting a safe environment for its members, participants, coaches, officials, volunteers and staff in all gymnastics disciplines. Among other things, USA Gymnastics: Educates its members and member clubs about ways to promote a safe gymnastics environment, including its Clubs Care and We Care campaigns.

    The Clubs Care Campaign is an educational initiative, designed specifically for gymnastics clubs, focuses on raising awareness about child sexual abuse so clubs can further their work toward establishing and maintaining a safe environment in their gyms. usagym.org/ClubsCare

    The We Care Campaign educates parents about the important role they play in preventing child sexual abuse. usagym.org/WeCare

    Encourages its member clubs to take affirmative steps to promote a safe gymnastics environment, which includes our Registration Requirements for Member Clubs.

    Registration Requirements for Member Clubs: Have a policy consistent with USA Gymnastics Participant Welfare Policy Not hire or be associated in any way with any person who is permanently ineligible for membership in

    USA Gymnastics or any person who is listed on a federal or state sex-offender registry. Maintain current commercial general liability insurance that includes, at minimum, participant liability

    and participant accident medical insurances. Employ at least one staff member who is 18 years of age or older and holds a current Professional or

    safety-certified Instructor membership in USA Gymnastics. Have a mission statement consistent with USA Gymnastics mission to encourage participation and the

    pursuit of excellence in all aspects of gymnastics.

    Requires criminal background screening for our members USA Gymnastics requires background searches for any member over the age of 18 who participate in sanctioned competitions and educational programs. Maintains a list of individuals who are permanently ineligible for membership. USA Gymnastics can withdraw the privilege of membership at any time where a member's conduct is determined to be inconsistent with the best interest of the sport of gymnastics and of the athletes we are servicing. A list of USA Gymnastics permanently ineligible members can be found at usagym.org/ineligible. Has policies and procedures in place to promote a safe environment for USA Gymnastics events and activities and to deal with allegations of misconduct involving USA Gymnastics members. USA Gymnastics encourages clubs to learn the legal reporting requirements in their states and to include those requirements in staff training. To learn more about making a report to USA Gymnastics, see Articles 9 an 10 of the Bylaws as well as sections 2-4 of the Participants Welfare Policy. Has adopted a Participant Welfare Policy, detailing USA Gymnastics commitment to all of the above. The Participant Welfare Policy outlines USA Gymnastics commitment to providing a safe environment, as well as the requirements and expectations of its members. Topics covered in the policy, which may be read in its entirety at usagym.org/welfare, include: member obligations and recommendations; standards of behavior; definitions of abuse; misconduct/grievance procedures; and education about the policy to members and the general public.
