Alexandria Township in northwestern Hunterdon County, was originally settled in 1765. The town was named after James Alexander who donated over 10,000 acres to the town. The township now measures just over 28 square miles, and is made up of the historic towns of Everittstown, Mt. Pleasant and Little York. The countryside of this beautiful township is still dotted by horse and crop farms, however, the convenience of Interstate 78 and 287, as well as, access to business centers give Alexandria Township both beauty and convenience.

Small town life isn’t part of the past in Hunterdon County. Communities still thrive here, and community service is an important, cohesive part of the picture. It works two ways. People support a place with their time and efforts. In turn, the community returns the favor with a wide variety of programs, services and initiatives.

Hunterdon’s public education system - 30 elementary school districts and five regional high schools - is perhaps its premier calling card. Residents enjoy access to top quality health care in and around the county. The local centerpiece of county health care is Hunterdon Healthcare System, a network of health services available to residents and their families at every stage of their lives. The Hunterdon County Park System oversees nearly 5,522 acres of park land in 28 parcels throughout the county. Currently several tracts are undeveloped, but the rest offer various recreational opportunities. The park system sponsors programs for children and adults in bird watching, horticulture, canoeing, hiking, volleyball, nature, maple sugaring and basket making.
