Orka Fitness Center[Interior Design IV: Recreational Design]Team project with Lior Askal

Orka has one goal; help the user evolve and grow into a more powerful, better and more environmentally conscious being. This gym, unlike others, will be using a whole new type of energy; human energy. Thepurpose of the gym is to show people that by combining our energy and working as a team, we can evolve into one very sustainable organism, one that can survive on its own. The interior will offer users an interactive experience, personalized counseling, and a visual experience like no other. The conceptbehind the design is based on movement.

SustainabilityCenter ofMontreal[Interior Design VI: Final Design]

We recognize the term sustainability. We’ve heard it before in conversations, in news articles and ecofriendly products. We associate it with reusing, recycling, green and alternative energy, but how does it affectus? How does it work? What is it made of?The Sustainability Center of Montreal is a learning center for those curious minds or for those who wish to influence their lifestyle. It treats environmental issues through interactive activites such as an interactive exhibiton where people can touch, feel and under-stand what sustainability is. A green room where people can finally understand whyvegetation is important in sustainability, it cleans our air, it purifies our water and can generate electricity.

L+O+S EnvironmentalLaw[Interior Design IV: Office Design]

Our environment is slowly dying due to unreasoned actions by companies and individuals. To stop further harm to our planet, environmental law is required. Laxness, Olfasson and Sjon are three lawyers from Iceland who wish to transmit their sustainable practice to Montreal. Inspired by the land of Reykyavik and its smoke bays, the environmental law firm combines soft and hard shapes.

The offices are set in a manner to optimise sunlight by facingtowards the south. The firm would get sun throughout the day.

All of the materials have been conciously chosen; Carpets are recyclable & have natural fibers. The concrete floorremains throughout the space, eliminating extra materials.

The semi frosted glass gives a minimum of privacy for the lawyers, but still allows a maximum amount of sunlight into the office space.

Piano R’mixdLight Fixture[Colour & Lighting II]

The Piano R’mixed light fixture was inspired by the keys of a piano. This musical instrument creates multiple notes and sounds with the manipulation of its keys. Just like the piano, this light fixture can be twisted, rotated andmanipulated to achieve the desired quantity of light. The materials used were chosen to have a natural aesthetic contrary to the classical piano. Hence, the Piano R’mixed. The wooden keys rotate on a metal rod which is fixed on each corner of the fixture.
