I would like to introduce myself as Amcal Max Albany Creek’s new Napoleon Perdis Makeup Artist- Aleasha . I am lucky enough to be working in a field that I love.

I have over 5 years makeup experience firstly being trained at the outstanding Napoleon Perdis Makeup Academy in 2009. TNW is owned and managed by Vicky Graham and Kelly Pope who are helping clients reach their health and fitness targets. The TNW exercise and health clinic offers a range of health practitioners including Exercise Physiologist, specialised personal trainer, Dietician, Diabetes Educator, Psychologist and Pilates Instructor. Kelly Pope was motivated to become a Pilates instructor and specialized personal trainer when she was dealing with her own back and neck issues. She has learnt that tailor made exercise is the medicine that can make positive change to people’s lives. Pilates can be a great way for people to improve their confidence with exercise laying the foundations with strong core and pelvic floor support.

The ATLANTOtec vibration method corrects the alignment of the first vertebra. Often the first vertebra can be incorrectly positioned following an injury like whiplash, a fall, or blow to the head.

The method which is widely available in Europe involves vibration massage of the long strap muscles of the back and shoulders and deep vibration massage of the neck muscles. Once the muscles are relaxed the atlas first vertebrae can be palpated. If diagnosis confirms the atlas is not correctly aligned, it is vibrated back into its correct place.

Following the treatment patients find an improvement in the neck’s range of motion, improvement in posture. In addition improvement can be seen in the energy flow to and from the brain, as well as improvement in breathing and reduction in chronic pain and headaches which means that better sleep patterns are restored. Alignment is usually only needed once.

The Albany Creek Swim Club has enjoyed another very successful season. Our most recent success being a 39th place finish at Australian Age Nationals in Sydney. Rory Scott won our first Age National Gold medal in many years along with bronze medals to Hannah Beighton and Dan Jacobson.The club also had 5 talented swimmers at 2014 Australian Swimming Championships held in Brisbane recently. These were: Aisling Scott, Hannah Beighton, Ridge Grimsey, Cameron Joyes and Stuart Lester. ACSC finished this wonderful season with 3rd position in the BSA Premiership Division.

Not many people can claim that they have had the same hobby for over nine decades but Broughton ‘Snow’ Cottam, who celebrated his 99th birthday earlier this month, has been an avid poet for most of his life.

Snow, a resident at the Aveo Albany Creek retirement village, was born on the 4th of April, 1915 and has been writing poetry for as long as he can remember.

Snow says he has always had a fascination with poetry and has written hundreds of poems throughout his lifetime, several of which have been published.

Although there are hundreds to choose from, Snow says his favorite poem is ‘The Man From Bennelong’ which he wrote about Woollarawarre Bennelong who served as an interlocutor between the Aboriginals and the British in the 1700s.

Snow continues to be an avid writer and regularly contributes poems to the Aveo Albany Creek Village Breeze newsletter.

The residents and staff at Aveo Albany Creek celebrated Snow’s milestone birthday in early April at the village’s monthly zodiac luncheon which was attended by over 70 people.

Fellow resident and village artist, Ian Gibb presented Snow with an artwork he created which included a photo of Snow and a poem that he wrote in acknowledgement of his 99th birthday.

With no plans of slowing down, Snow is currently working on a poem about the Australian Women’s Land Army which he has been working on for over a year.
