Try to guess what

the following images are…..

Page 2: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

What is this?

Page 3: ALANG PLASTIKAN!
Page 4: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

1 million of plastic cups trashed every six hours in commercial flights.

Page 5: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

What is this?

Page 6: ALANG PLASTIKAN!
Page 7: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

60,000 plastic bags,discarded every 5 seconds.

Page 8: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

What is this?

Page 9: ALANG PLASTIKAN!
Page 10: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

2 million plastic bottles,dumped every 5 minutes.

Page 11: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

What else?????

Page 12: ALANG PLASTIKAN!
Page 13: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

Wait.... There’s more…..

Page 14: ALANG PLASTIKAN!
Page 15: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

PLASTIC??!!

Page 16: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

What is plastic?

Plastic is any synthetic or semi-synthetic organic polymer.

Page 17: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

Types of Plastic Products: PLASTIC BAGS PLASTIC COATINGS PLASTIC FURNITURE PLASTIC SHEETS PLASTIC FITTINGS PLASTIC TANKS PLASTIC TOYS PLASTIC BUCKETS PLASTIC SANITARYWARE PLASTIC STATIONERY

Page 18: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

Worldwide plastic consumption is flagrant….

Page 19: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

How long does plastic take to decompose????

F.Y.I. Plastics do not decompose!!!!

NEVER!

Page 20: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

It only breaks down into molecules.

Molecules that are harmful to the environment.

Page 21: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

Plastics are believed not to

decompose but only photo degrade.

Page 22: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

Decomposition vs. Photo Degradation

Decomposition is “the chemical breakdown of organic matter into its

constituents by the action of bacteria,”

while photo degradation is, “the

process by which chemical bonds are

broken down by photons in the sun’s

light spectrum.”

Page 23: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

How long does plastic photo degrade????

Page 24: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

A very long long long time…….

In a way that it is being estimated up to

hundreds…..thousands of… years.. depends upon its composition..

Page 25: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

Types of Plastic:Plastic #1: Polyethylene terephtalate, also known as PETE or PET.  Usually clear in color, the vast majority of disposable soda and water bottles are made of this plastic. Range from 5 to 10 years.

Page 26: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

Plastic #2: High-density polyethylene, or HDPE.  Most milk jugs, detergent bottles, juice bottles, butter tubs, and toiletries bottles are made of HDPE. It takes 100 years depending on the thickness of the plastic used.

Types of Plastic:

Page 27: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

Plastic #3: Polyvinyl chloride, or PVC. It is used to make food wrap, bottles for cooking oil, and the highly common plumbing pipes.

Types of Plastic:

Page 28: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

Plastic #4: Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) is used to make grocery bags, some food wraps, squeezable bottles, and bread bags. 500 years with a conservative average time of 1000 years.

Types of Plastic:

Page 29: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

Plastic #5: This is polypropylene. Common items produced with it include yogurt cups, medicine bottles, ketchup, syrup bottles, straws and similar wide-necked containers, as well as water bottles with a cloudy finish.

Types of Plastic:

Page 30: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

Plastic #6: Polystyrene, or Styrofoam, from which disposable containers and packaging are made. Also found in disposable plates and cups. This type of plastic will break down in under 50 years.

Types of Plastic:

Page 31: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

Plastic #7: Other Types - This includes anything not in codes one through six. Most plastics in this section do not breakdown and are considered permanently, chemically bonded.

EFFECTS OF PLASTIC TO ENVIRONMENT

Litter the landscape

Page 33: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

Pollutes beaches & oceans.

EFFECTS OF PLASTIC TO ENVIRONMENT

Page 34: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

Kill animals.

EFFECTS OF PLASTIC TO ENVIRONMENT

Page 35: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

Plastics are non-biodegradable.

EFFECTS OF PLASTIC TO ENVIRONMENT

Page 36: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

These are just some of the effects....

Page 37: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

What about to human.????

Page 38: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

How does plastics effect human??

Page 39: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

Chemicals used in the production are highly toxic

& pose serious treat to living beings of all

species.. It can cause cancer, skin & respiratory

problems……

Page 40: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

And it may causes...caused…will cause…..

FLOODS!!!

Page 41: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

Why it happen????

Page 42: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

Because what we actually do is…

Throw plastics everywhere…

Page 43: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

And they will end up…

Either on the GROUND.. or in WATER..

Page 44: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

Why do we do that???

Page 45: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

The thing is…

“L O G I C” ST UP ID I TY

Page 46: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

What can we do??

Page 47: ALANG PLASTIKAN!
Page 48: ALANG PLASTIKAN!
Page 49: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

Reduce.. Reuse.. Recycle..

Page 50: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

REDUCEThe first and most effective component of the waste hierarchy is reducing the waste created.

Page 51: ALANG PLASTIKAN!
Page 52: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

REUSETo use an item again after it has been used.

Page 53: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

Use reusable cloth bags!

Page 54: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

If we use a cloth bag, we can save:

6 bags a week

Page 55: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

If we use a cloth bag, we can save:

24 bags a month

Page 56: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

If we use a cloth bag, we can save:

288 bags a year

Page 57: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

If we use a cloth bag, we can save:

22,176 bags in a lifetime

Page 58: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

Cloth bags will prevent plastic spreading..

Page 59: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

But still there are lot of garbage out there..

Page 60: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

Then RECYCLE those can be recycled..

Page 61: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

RECYCLEWhen waste is eventually discarded, segregating items for recycling from other waste is important. Recyclables include glass, newspaper, aluminum, cardboard and a surprising array of other materials.

Page 62: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

Plastic can be recycled into..

There’s another “R”…

Page 80: ALANG PLASTIKAN!

RESPECT!

“Respect to our environment..& Self-discipline.”
