ALABAMA MINING INSTITUTE
Dr. John R. Christy Dr. John R. Christy is the Distinguished Professor of Atmospheric Science and Director of the Earth System Science Center at the University of Alabama in Huntsville where he began studying global climate issues in 1987. Christy was awarded NASA’s Medal for Exceptional Scientific Achievement in 1991. In January 2002 Christy was inducted as a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society. Dr. Christy has served as a Contributor and Lead Author for the U.N. and has provided testimony to several congressional committees. Dr. Christy’s presentation at the conference will be, “That Stubborn Climate,” which will examine causes in climate change and the theoretical models used to predict global warming.
Judith Etterer Judith Etterer is the SE District Staff Assistant in the Metal Nonmetal Southeast District Office of the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA MNM). She has worked with MSHA for 14 years and is a direct report to the Southeastern District Manager. This position provides oversight and support to all activities that direct and improve the SE District’s management. Judith’s background includes 30 plus years of experience as an Industrial Hygienist, also previously working with OSHA. She will present the latest MSHA updates for conference participants addressing safety and health in metal nonmetal mining and current mining trends.
Mark Parker Mark Parker is the Technology Manager for Halliburton in the Mid Continent Area responsible for leveraging Halliburton technology for improved production results. Before coming to lead the Mid Continent Area Tech Team, he was a Technology Manager for Pinnacle in the Hydraulic Fracturing Center of Excellence. Prior to that, he was a Technical Advisor for the Southeast Area Tech Team supporting production enhancement operations for the Haynesville Shale development. Prior to that he worked in Halliburton’s Technology Center in Duncan, OK where he was responsible for all physical testing dealing with dynamic fluid loss and fracture conductivity. Mark’s presentation at the conference will be, “The History of Fracking.”
