As we know, books play an important role in scholarly communication.
Particularly in the Social Sciences and Arts & Humanities, the citation network between books and journals is very significant.
Thomson Reuters in now in the process of creating a Book Citation Index, which will be available as two separate files within Web of Science – Science, and Social Science and Humanities
Content will be comprised of scholarly books that present fully referenced articles of original research, or reviews of the literature. Both Series and Non-series monographs will be included.
Science file will account for roughly 40% of the overall book content, and include publications back to 2005.
Social Science and Humanities file will account for roughly 60% of the overall book content, and include publications back to 2003.
