In the year 711 A.D.,Mumslims defeate the visigoths. They occupied mostof the of peninsula.

This territory was called Al Andalus , and Cordoba was is Capital.

The emirate and caliphate of Cordoba

In 756 A.D. Abd ar-Rahman I established Al Andalus as an emirate or independient province.

In 929, under Abd ar-Rahman III Al Andalus become a caliphate.

The culture of Al Andalus

From the tenth century Al Andalus became a great center of culture.

Lived in major cities, doctors,writers,astronomers,mathematicians and philosophers such as Averroes and Maimonides

Castles and houses of Al Andalus

Muslims and chrstian fought from 711 to 1492 to control the

peninsula
