Sustainable development has become a major concern in

our society in recent years. For the construction industry,

particularly in buildings, sustainable development implies

a built environment which is habitable, safe and healthy.

Nexans Olex complies with GBCA PVC Best Practice Guidelines.

All PVC used in Nexans Olex manufactured cables follows the

guidelines for Best Practice PVC.

Using Nexans Olex manufactured PVC cables can contribute

to your project earning points towards your new building’s

GBCA Green Star rating (PVC Best Practice Audit document

is available upon request).

Extensive range of enhanced performance cables for the

construction industry engineered from low smoke halogen

free materials with improved fire retardant properties

(over standard PVC cables) reduced smoke, acid gas and

hazardous fume generation particularly under fire conditions,

while retaining the excellent mechanical and electrical

properties designed into Nexans Olex cables.

Complete range of high performance fire safety/ fire resistant

cables engineered from materials developed in conjunction

with CSIRO. This unique cable polymeric insulation material

hardens into a protective ceramic shield when exposed to fire,

maintaining circuit integrity and life-saving essential services.

In addition to its unique property, the material has low calorific

value and fire retardant properties with minimal generation of

hazardous smoke and corrosive fume emissions.

Alsecure® Envirolex® cables are an extensive range of enhanced performance cables

for the construction industry engineered to dramatically reduce environmental impact,

particularly under fire conditions, while retaining the excellent mechanical and electrical

properties designed into Nexans Olex cables. Olex uses a variety of inorganically filled

polyolefin based materials to engineer the cables in the Alsecure® Envirolex® range to

meet a wide variety of end users and performance requirements.

Conductor range up to 630mm2 for single core cables

Alsecure® Envirolex® cables have been tested according to and comply with the

requirements as specified in AS1660.5.6.

Alsecure® Envirolex® products include readily strippable cables for general construction

purposes as well as the tougher products commonly found in cables with high

performance capability.

Alsecure® Envirolex® materials can also be used as alternatives for all other low voltage

power and control cables (Refer Nexans Olex Handbook for Low Voltage power and

Control cable from pages 8 to 25). Cables are available on request, subject to minimum

production run.

Alsecure® Envirolex® cables have been tested according to and comply with the requirements of the single flame tests specified in AS/NZ1660-5.6. Alsecure® Envirolex® products include readily strippable cables for general construction purposes as well as the tougher products commonly found in cables with higher fire performance capability.

Over the past few years there has been an increase in the awareness

and demand for safety within public places, such as, hospitals,

government buildings, airports, tunnels and railway stations etc.

Contractors are now being asked to install cables which, in the

event of fire are non hazardous to the public and the environment.

Nexans Olex has produced a range of LSZH cables which in the

event of a fire, have three main characteristics with safety in mind,

low smoke, low hazardous fumes and low flame propagation.

Alsecure Premium INFIT™ – Breakthrough in Fire Safety Cables

Originally developed in conjunction with the CSIRO & Cooperative Research Centre for

Polymers, Alsecure® Premium INFIT™ utilises the latest in polymer composite technology.

Unlike conventional polymers that breakdown in a fire emergency, the INFIT (previously

known as Ceramifiable®) polymer technology transforms from a flexible, plastic covering

into a tough insulating ceramic barrier that preserves circuit integrity (no breaks or short

circuits) of essential/critical services and equipment such as fire alarms, emergency

lighting, pumps, fans and important process safety continue to operate for period

of time.

How does Alsecure® Premium® INFIT™ work?

INFIT™ technology operates by including the components to form a ceramic material

into a polymeric matrix that is the insulation of the cable. These components are able to

form a ceramic when activated by the high temperature of a fire. The aspect that defines

the product is that the transition is seamless, in that the ceramic is forming at the same

time as the polymer is degrading. This means that the insulation shape and size remains

approximately the same before and after a fire.
