ccording to the data of 2013, Aksa Jeneratör Sanayi A.Ş. took its place among the Capital 500 companies for special prizes given to 25 different companies in 8 different categories where the largest 500 organizations guiding the growth of Turkey’s economy are determined and which 17th was held this year. Alper Peker, General Manager of Aksa Power Generation, received the award on behalf of our company from Hasan Süel, Executive Vice President of Vodafone in the ceremony at the Conrad Hotel in Istanbul. Fikri Işık, Science, Industry and Technology Minister, and numerous representatives from the business world attended the ceremony. Minister Fikri Işık speaking at the ceremony said that export began to return to normality in recent months. Işık continued to his words as follows: “We trade with all

Having sold more than 4 millions concert tickets in her tours so far and enjoying a worldwide fame, Lady Gaga gave her first concert with ‘Lady Gaga’s artRAVE: the ARTPOP Ball’ tour in Turkey. Istanbul concert held at ITU Stadium on September 16 animated with AKSA Power Generation. It was the first tour of ARTPOP album that is the latest album of the artist that was placed on the top in multi-platinum and Billboard 200 list. The tour began in Ft. Lauderdale on May 4 and continued with Australia and Asia concerts after North America. Istanbul was the first stop of her European tour. Gaga offered a different stage performance for fans. SOLUtION PArtNErShIP IN BOAtShOw fAIrMarintürk, International Istanbul Boatshow, the only Boatshow Fair of Turkey held on the sea, brought together the marine enthusiasts. Our company showed once more that we are the solution partner in all areas by taking place in the fair held in City Port, Pendik, Istanbul. Istanbul Boatshow giving the opportunity to test the boats on the sea for marine enthusiasts opened its doors 34th times this year. 380 mega yachts, motor yachts, sailboats and catamarans with lengths ranging from 3 meters to 40 meters were exhibited and about 80 thousand marine enthusiasts were entertained.

Aksa Power Generation took its place in 11th Ethio-Con International Construction Exhibition held in Ethiopia, the 2nd most crowded country of Africa, after Nigeria with a population of 82 million. Ali Metin Kazancı blew out the candles on the interesting cake power plant shaped in his birthday party held in Mirada Del Mar Hotel in Antalya. Aksa that was founded by Ali Metin Kazancı in 1968 and that is the leader of the generator market is one of the largest 200 industrial enterprises and exporter firms in Turkey.

8th Metal Processing Machinery and Automation Technologies Trade Fair (ANKATEK) was held in Ostim Stadium Area in Ankara. Unqualified generators can not activate when the power goes out. The generators should work in hospitals, elevators and the other important places in the most urgent time. Therefore you need to pay attention to this when buying a generator. Just the price should not be a criteria when buying a generator, you should refer to the strengths, origins, experiences of the company.

How much is the market share of AKSA Power Generation in Turkey?The market share of AKSA Power Generation in Turkey is around 50%. Some customers are not aware of the importance of the quality of the generator. When recognized, it is too late. Because when the power goes out if the generator does not work, the existence of the generator is forgotten. Another generator is not purchased. They try to repaire the existing one. This approach forces us in terms of price and profitability.

AKSA Power Generation continues its path as the market leader in Turkey. How do we stay competitive with other firms that occur the markets?There are important competitors in the generator market. We have not more than 3 serious competitors in Turkey market. Other companies make lower production. There is no investing company

Aksa took part in several major projects such as World Cup, Eurovision, Formula 1, Motor GP. For example, FIFA U20 World Cup was held in Turkey last year. Because the user can not find the addressee. We provide the necessary support for these victims.

When we evaluate AKSA globally, we see that it employs a very significant number of employees. What are the numerical data on this subject?We have about 900 - 1000 employees in the world. We produce in 3 different locations. We provide services in all branches of the energy. We sell production and we produce generators to support energy.

In this context, can you explain your market share on the world?We are in the top 5 in the world as the market share. The engine manufacturers take place in the top 4 in this list.

In which contries AKSA Power Generation is most preferred?We are already the market leader in Turkey. We are also effective in market share in Russia, China, Turkic Republics and European countries. We provide services in the United States. We have our own franchises in 12 countries in total. We export to 160 countries in total.

In which countries do you produce?China, USA and Turkey.

When you analyze the 2015, what are your predictions? Are you planning to invest in a new country?

We began sales in New Caledonia between Australia and New Zealand. We provide the generators of the islands such as Philippines, Madagascar. These islands have no access at some points. We conduct the operations with helicopters. Imagine that a Turkish company provides the power of these islands.

We are planning to invest in Brazil in 2015. We are already very effective and powerful in Africa countries.

How did your predictions for 2014 occured? We recorded growth of around 30% in Turkey market in 2013. Our industry is based on the construction industry, so a growth of around 15% was recorded generally.

Aksa Power Generation also attracts attention with export figures. Are your export figures as you predicted?We had a sales of approximately $ 400 million. We provide more than half of it from abroad.

You manage the production process in your factory in Istanbul. Do you continue to other investments?We started making our factory in Adana in addition to our factory in Istanbul. We build our factory in an area of 80 thousand square meters in Hacı Ömer Sabancı Organized Zone.

It is considered as a problem that could lead to very serious socio-economic consequences due to the negative effects that may occur a threat in terms of the climate change, human health, ecosystems, and maintaining the human race. Problems that may be caused by climate change are very important, therefore this issue should be dealt with both local and national basis. Climate change affects many countries. Due to this problem, while some countries struggle with the threat of drought, some of them experience floods. According to Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), increase in the rate of carbon dioxide arises from the use of fossil fuels and reduction of forest.

Plants, animals, people and ecosystems are at serious risk as a result of factors such as melting glaciers, rise in sea level, increases in ocean acidity, droughts, floods, increase in the frequency and effect of extreme weather events such as tornado.

According to IPCC, the main cause of global climate change is the increase observed in greenhouse gas emissions as a result of human activities and the use of fossil fuels, primarily coal, is the main reason for the increase of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

The report stated that continuous emission of greenhouse gases will result in further warming of all components of the climate and long term changes in climate, irreversible effects occur, gas emissions should be reduced in a continuous and reliable manner to slow climate change. According to all scenarios, increase in surface warming is expected during the 21st century. Probably heat waves will become more frequent and long-term, excessive rainfall will continue in many areas intensively and frequently. Ocean warming and acidification will continue and sea level will continue to rise.

Which mEasurEs can bE takEn?

• The necessary reduction should be provided in energy production and consumption, combustion technologies should be developed to prevent excess fuel consumption and air pollution.

• The use of new and renewable energy sources (hydraulic, solar, wind, geothermal, biomass) instead of fossil fuels should be expanded.

• The necessary measures should be taken for the conservation of biological diversity, especially in forest.

• The arrengements should be done to consume less fuel of motor vehicles in intracity and intercity passenger and freight transport.

• Emphasis should be on sea and railways in passenger and freight transport.

• Natural resources should be used in a conscious way, a balanced and sustainable development model should be adopted.

THE MOST ELEGANT STYLE OF ART Miniature craft that draws attention

with unique technology and strong expression survives throughout

history by diversifying. Surviving until today miniatures with fine details and

very difficult depictions continue to evoke admiration.

iniature craft is the description of very thin and small patterns by processing manually. Red color was used for initials in manuscripts in Europe in the Middle Ages. This red color was derived from an oxide called ‘minimum’. The starting point of the word miniature is the word minimum. Miniature in Turkish history took place as embroidery. The persons engaged in the art of miniature were named as muralist. Miniature craft was processed on materials such as paper, parchment and ivory.

The hIsTory of mInIaTureMiniature craft emerged in the eastern culture firstly and spread to west. The oldest known examples of miniature in the history were found in Egypt and identified as belonging to the 2nd century BC. How to Make MInIature?

MuSK OXMusk ox takes its name from a strong odor emitting from the fur. Musk ox is a member of the ruminant mammals group such as goats, sheep and cattle. They live in Greenland and the north of Canada. The horns of musk ox have an unusual shape. Broad antlers of the males extend from the center line of the head to sideways, direct downward firstly, then the ends are bent upwards. The horns of the female are smaller. Musk ox is covered with coarse tan hairs reaching up to 30 centimeters in length. The hairs are dense and fluffy in the shoulder part of the animal, like a hump. There are thin and light brown soft hairs that are lost in summers under the coarse hairs. The shoulder height of males reaches 1.5 meters and the weight can reach 400 kilograms. ARctIc FOXThe number of species of fox exceeds 20. These predatory mammals which are members of canine are very similar to each others in terms of appearance and behavior but colors. They live in burrows in the ground and come out to hunt birds, mices, rabbits, poultry and frogs at nights. In addition, they eat berries, worms and insects. Females bring forth 4-6 youngs usually in the spring. Arctic fox living in the countries surrounding the North Pole is shorter and thicker. The upper parts of the fur are brown in summers, its fur is completely white in winters. The blue fox which is a kind of a different color of arctic fox has bluish gray fur during all seasons.

REINDEERReindeer is one of the most well-known portly animals of Arctic. These biungulate mammals that are collected under a single species (Rangifer tarandus) usually live in the region extending from Spitzberg (Svalbard) that is one of the closest island group to Scandinavia and the North Pole to eastern Siberia and in the northern parts of North America today. Outer feathers are rough and long, inner feathers that provide insulation are thin, frequent and woolen. The color of the outer feathers is dark brown or dark gray in summers, light brown or light gray in winters. Reindeer has long and whitish hairs hanging from the neck to down. Splayed hooves provide the ability to walk in snow and marshy grounds. These animals can swim very well and migrate between the places they live. Reindeers pasture in large flocks in the grasslands in during the summer and go to the hills where the snow is not deep by turning back again when winter comes, clear the snow with their hooves and eat emerging lichens.

re you ready to see the Sumela Monastery built on cliffs in foothill of Karadağ in Altındere Valley in Maçka, Trabzon? The monastery referred as ‘the virgin mary’ among the people is located about 300 meters above from the valley and the monastery that was built in the foothills continues the tradition of establishing on waterfront, caves, forests and outside the city. The monastery founded on behalf of the virgin mary takes the name ‘sümela’ from the word ‘melas’ that means ‘black’.

6’th century to the 21’st centuryAccording to rumours from the 6th century to the 21st century, the monastery founded by two priests named Barnabas and Sophranios come from Athens in the period of Theodosius I, Byzantine Emperor. It was repaired in the 6th century at the request of Emperor Justinian. The monastery continues its presence since the 13th century. The importance of the monastery increased in the period of Alexios III, in Trabzon Komnenos Principality founded in 1204 and the incomes were provided by decrees. Sumela was enriched with new decrees in the period of Manuel III, the son of Alexios III and next princes. Once Eastern Black Sea coast has entered under Turkish domination, Ottoman sultans took Sumela Monastery under protection like many other monasteries and protected with decrees. Some walls of the monastery that several sections renovated in the 18th century were decorated with frescoes and it gained today’s stunning image with the addition of large buildings in the 19th century. The monastery was invaded during the Russian invasion in Trabzon between the years 1916-1918 and was completely evacuated after the year 1923.

Get ready for a fabulous historyThe main sections of the Sumela Monastery are the main rock church, several chapels, kitchens, student rooms, a guesthouse, holy ayazma (holy spring of orthodox greeks). There are a total of 72 rooms outside those sections. There structures built on a large area. The frescoes in the chapel are of the early 18th century, there are three layers made in three separate periods. The main topics covered in frescoes that its some parts were removed from the monastery and that appear quite worn include biblical scenes, representations about the life of Jesus and the virgin mary. Each fresk in the monastery is a worth-seeing structure.

‘Fakat Müzeyyen Bu Derin Bir Tutku’ that is the second full length film

of Çiğdem Vitrinel who are the ‘Best Director’ award winners with

the movie ‘Geriye Kalan’ in the 48th International Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, was adopted

from the novel with the same name of İlhami Algör to the movie. Erdal
