AJP Adds Valuable New Feature
With the following fine paper by Melinda Novak, ‘‘Self-Injurious Behavior inRhesus Monkeys: New Insights Into Its Etiology, Physiology and Treatment,’’The American Journal of Primatology is pleased to launch an important newcategory of articles, Invited Papers. At the present time, invitations from theEditor to submit Invited Papers on specific topics have been extended only tothose individuals who have given Keynote or Featured talks at the annual ASPconferences in 2001 & 2002; extending invitations to Keynote and FeaturedSpeakers at annual ASP conferences will continue as policy. However, futureinvitations to submit an Invited Paper may be extended more broadly to seniorprimatologists whose expertise qualifies them to present an important perspectiveon topics of current interest in primatology. Because Invited Papers are specialcontributions that are viewed as promoting scholarship in primatology in amanner that may complement rather than replicate the goals of a Review Articleor a Research Article, Invited Papers need not meet the formal criteria for eithera Review Article or Research Article, although they are expected to meet the moregeneral standards of high scholarship.
Please note that all Invited Papers go through a review and revision processin which three Associate Editors of AJP provide critical comments to the author.
