Charactstics The temperate deciduous forest
has four season of winter, spring, summer, and fall.
Animals and plants have special adaptations to cope with these yearly changes.
Winter temperatures usually are below 32 degrees. Water freezes at that temperature.
In the fall season all of the animals gather up to find food for the winter.
In the winter animals make homes to be warm in the winter.
Like all forests the temperatures grow hot or cold.
Location
The temperate deciduous forests are located primarily in the eastern United States, Canada, Europe, parts of Russia, and Japan.
Plant Life
Most plants in a temperate forest grow during the summer.
Forest grow at the shrub and herb layers.
Their roots grow below the forest floor.
Animal Life
Animals in the temperate forest are part of the ecosystem.
Animals change with different temperatures and the season.
