It will cover, seal or protect the damaged areas (i.e., holes or gashes) with a field- applied patch until permanent repairs can be made. This kit is an assembly of 3M™ Aircraft Fuel Cell Battle Damage Repair Kit 8999K6, 3M™ Aircraft Skin Battle Damage Repair Kit 8999K5 and 3M™ Scotch-Grip™ Plastic Adhesive 826. These materials can be used to make field repairs quickly so that flight can take place within a few minutes after the patch is applied. These repairs do not restore the fuel cell to its original damage resistant level, nor does it restore structural strength to the airframe. NOTE: Minor damage is damage that does not compromise the structural integrity of the aircraft. These patches do not restore structural strength to the airframe. NOTE: Temporary battle damage repairs are limited to the guidelines in the Airworthiness Release for the aircraft. This repair does not restore the fuel cell to its original damage resistant level, nor does it restore structural strength to the airframe. Application instructions are provided in the kit. The application instructions refer to the use of a MRE heat application in the case that application must be made at temperatures below 60°F. NOTE: The MRE heat source is not included in this kit, and if it is to be used, it must be obtained from other sources. 3M™ Scotch-Grip™ Plastic Adhesive 826 This adhesive is used with the 3M 8999K6 kit as an edge dressing for the fuel cell bladder repairs.
